Limitless Magazine: Can you tell our readers about what really inspired you to write music?

Mr. Craig: What really inspired me was a few things, (life) for one, with my childhood being a trainwreck I started writing poems and the other was my love for music you know. Listening to Run-Dmc, Public Enemy, LL cool J, Big Daddy Kane and more, I just wanted to be part of the culture and put my life in a song.

Limitless Magazine: When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

Mr. Craig: To be honest, I realized early on in my career but I didn’t have any direction on my next move, so one of my friends put me on to this guy named Mr. Tuck who had a studio out in Hempstead Long Island at 510 S. Franklin which was a popular local studio at the time and the birth place of Mr. Craig the artist, even though that wasn’t my name at that time but from there, I just kept going full speed ahead.

Limitless Magazine: How do you describe your sound/style?

Mr. Craig: I would say my style is very different and unique which can be good and bad, but on certain songs the way I record my vocals, I’ve been compared to 2pac at times.

Limitless Magazine: What’s your process for dealing with performance anxiety?

Mr. Craig: I can’t say I really get anxiety, it’s more of me not being afraid of forgetting my lyrics. Lol, I prefer not to have my vocals in the background, but when you have a nice size catalog it can be hard to remember all the lyrics and you’re trying to put on a great show as well.  So, when I have an upcoming show, I rehearse my set a lot to make sure I’m on point when it’s time to hit the stage.

Limitless Magazine: What is your creative process when creating a new song?

Mr. Craig: I normally let the track dictate the direction of the song but there’s sometimes I may have a concept for a song in mind that I want to write. My process is pretty simple, I prefer to be alone when I’m writing and I just get in my own zone and have at it.

Limitless Magazine: Tell us about your new releases. What song are you pushing right now?

Mr. Craig: I just dropped a new single called Jambalaya with RJ Payne and DamePlx which is on digital networks right now, go check it out if you haven’t, and next up is a single called (I’m Back) dropping 10/11 which is also my cousin Melody’s birthday but she’s more like a sister to me.

Limitless Magazine: What projects do you have in the near future?

Mr. Craig: My next project is actually my new album coming out 11/8 called (This Time It’s Personal) one of the most personal projects I’ve ever put out. It’s kind of a bitter sweet album to be honest, but I felt I needed to put it out. So, stay tuned for more music and other projects I have in the works as well, I’m not stopping anymore!! It’s go time, and I’m back.
