Multiplatinum rapper and singer 24kGoldn is at his most vulnerable with his new EP, Growing Pains.
The project features seven brutally honest tracks, including standout track “Dog House,” all ripped straight from the pages of his journal and offering a peek into his reflective state of mind. The project features assists from GRAMMY® Award-winning producers Los Hendrix, John Hill, J. Mo, one half of the Grammy Award-winning duo Jarami – Jacob Oluffsen, and more.
The EP serves a reflection of Golden himself, beginning with “Good Intentions,” as he recounts the changes his life has gone through in recent years since reaching new heights and stardom within his career. As the project unfolds, Golden leans into his own vulnerability, tackling recollections of childhood trauma, love, and loss, all while never losing the underlying optimism that is almost a signature for the California native. The coming-of-age EP, Growing Pains ends with “Clarity” – ruminating over his own personal growth as he sees himself and his habits clearly in the end.
Representing both the difficulties of his hometown of San Francisco, as well as those that came with finding his footing in the world both as a man and an artist, Growing Pains offers a deeper look at Golden and the experiences that have shaped him.
“There is no growth without pain. That’s something I always heard but sh*t hits different once you live it. Being an artist means high highs and low lows, and at this point I’m just embracing the entire experience and sharing it with the world on this project. Tying together my own challenges around change with the similar issues my city is facing right now.”
While for many the accolades that Golden has achieved would signify a successful and complete career, he’s only getting started in his journey of sharing his story to the world.
“I’m as curious, determined, and grateful as ever. I know who I am, what I stand for, and what it means to be Golden. I feel like there’s a lot of people who don’t know about me, so I said it all in the music.”
