Raised in Philly, Noah Guy blames the “Motown’s Greatest Hits” CD that was stuck in his Dad’s Jeep as the catalyst for his musical journey. His 2021 debut EP titled, “is it real?” was written and recorded from his childhood bedroom; the 4-track project was a brief yet striking sonic experience of boundaryless soul music touching on topics of masculinity, intimacy, self-isolation, and absent-mindedness. Now living in Los Angeles, Noah Guy welcomed his most realized and full-bodied project yet, WHO’S TAKEN TIME?! (ACT I) EP at the end of last year. He now returns with new singles “BIG BOYS DON’T CRY” and “BROTHER’S KEEPER,” with the promise of more new music on the way.
Today, Philadelphia-raised, Los Angeles-based soul-pop singer/songwriter Noah Guy releases his new EP WHO’S TAKEN TIME ?! (ACT II) including new single and video “HOSPITALITY & TOURISM”.
WHO’S TAKEN TIME ?! (ACT II) is the follow up to and companion project to Noah Guy’s most recent, 2022 release, WHO’S TAKEN TIME ?! (ACT I). The upcoming project is a collaborative piece that includes some of Noah Guy’s recent singles, “STAY HERE” with Amaria and “BROTHER’S KEEPER” with Braxton Cook. The new EP showcases Noah Guy’s “retro futuristic sound, blending the lush qualities of 90s/00s R&B with the intensity of contemporary Hip-Hop rhythms. Weaving infectious melodies with mesmerizing sonic expression, he’s building a dream-like world full of evocative, timeless sounds.
In addition to Amaria’s contribution to “STAY HERE” she offers her sultry, background vocals to the single, “HOSPITALITY & TOURISM.” Serving as a follow up to his previous singles from the project, “HOSPITALITY & TOURISM” continues to develop an introduction into Noah’s world.
Building off of the emotional rawness of Noah Guy’s 2021 debut EP is it real?, WHO’S TAKEN TIME?! (ACT I)represents the sound of an artist continuing to color outside the lines of soul. His past singles “5 MO’ MINUTES” and “2 DOGS 1 LEASH,” quickly surpassed the 4 million stream mark and gained acclaim from the likes of Billboard, 1883 Magazine and more. This new music is the byproduct of his changed physical surroundings — a cross-country move from his East Coast roots to Los Angeles — where the perpetual sunshine has helped him uncover a new, lighter side to his moody sound.
