Ava Trepeck Explores Inner Balance on Ethereal New Single “Sphinx”

New York City-based alternative dream-pop artist Ava Trepeck continues to carve out a distinctive creative space with her latest single, “Sphinx,” a release that pairs immersive production with introspective songwriting. Originally from Birmingham, Michigan, Trepeck has built a sound that exists somewhere between dream-pop’s atmospheric beauty and alternative music’s raw edge, creating songs that are as emotionally rich as they are sonically expansive.

Her music blends airy, intimate vocals with textured synths, weighty basslines, vocal manipulations, and gritty electronic rhythms, resulting in a style that feels both cinematic and deeply personal. Influenced by artists including Dora Jar, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, Kate Bush, and Miley Cyrus, Trepeck draws from a wide palette of sounds while maintaining a voice that is unmistakably her own.

At the heart of “Sphinx” is a meditation on inner balance. The song explores the relationship between masculine and feminine energies, presenting the idea of “divine union” as a path toward inner peace, security, and freedom. Rather than approaching the concept philosophically, Trepeck translates it into an emotional experience, allowing the music to communicate the journey as much as the lyrics themselves.

Musically, the track is vibrant and dynamic. Bright synth melodies weave through buoyant percussion while Trepeck’s confident vocal performance anchors the production with clarity and conviction. Every element feels intentional, creating a soundscape that is both hypnotic and energetic without sacrificing its emotional depth.

Trepeck’s creative identity extends well beyond her music. Fascinated by the connection between the mind, body, and spirit, she often explores psychological patterns, dreams, and personal transformation through her work. That perspective is reflected not only in her songwriting but also in the visual world she has cultivated, drawing inspiration from the surreal storytelling of David Lynch, the psychological theories of Carl Jung, and the timeless imagery of childhood storybooks.

Her academic background further informs that artistic vision. After studying Psychology and Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California, Trepeck developed a multidisciplinary approach to songwriting and world-building, using both disciplines to create immersive narratives that blur the line between reality and imagination.

Now based in New York City, Trepeck continues collaborating with a close-knit circle of creatives while regularly performing throughout the city. Alongside “Sphinx,” listeners can also explore her debut album, Riddle Me This, as well as her conceptual EP, Two Ships, which is accompanied by a visualizer available on YouTube. Fans can stay up to date on upcoming live performances, merchandise, and future releases through her official website and social media channels as she continues to expand her unique artistic universe.
