Aubin Bradley Dishes on The Really Loud House

Aubin Bradley is Lucy Loud on the Nickelodeon series “The Really Loud House” which will be starting the second season on February 19th.  Playing Lucy Loud has been a dream come true for this talented young actress who is lucky to also be starring alongside her real life sister Catherine. Aubin took time away from filming for this interview that just may include a few spoiler alerts for her fans!

1. Tell us about the upcoming season of “The Really Loud House”. Any spoilers you can share?

Season 2 is really incredible and goes much deeper into each of the characters, especially the sisters and I think is even funnier.  My character, Lucy Loud, lover of all dark and supernatural, is also growing up.  In Season 2, Lucy starts to stretch herself and let’s just say, she tries some new things and is open to new types of friends!  I also start to go through some of the typical middle school stuff, so fans are going to see Lucy really start to grow up and a more human side to her.  You may also see more of the infamous Mortician Club (spoiler alert!)

2. How do you think the fans will react when they see that the first episode is a musical? Are there plans to do anymore episodes like that?

Yes, Season 2 kicks off with a special one hour premiere episode “A Musical to Remember” with over 22 songs and dancing numbers.  My sister, Catherine (I call her Cat) who plays Luan Loud on the series, and I have been dancing and singing since we were literally two so it is fun to use our musical talents on the series and the fans love the musical episodes.  Cat and I reunite in a tap number that is “vaudeville” inspired and is just hilarious and was so much fun to film.  Let’s just say Luan really takes a few punches from her little sister – SPOILER ALERT!  I think we will continue to have songs and dances in the series.  In the Halloween movie we just did, we did the coolest Thriller inspired dance which was so much fun!

3. Where did you find inspiration for your character of Lucy Loud?

When I first auditioned for the role, I did not watch the cartoon version. I did not want Lucy to be a caricature of the cartoon. I watched clips of Wednesday Adams from the original Adam Family tv series, which I loved, for inspiration! Any character I play, I try to find common ground and pieces of me that I can bring to the role.  I have tried to make Lucy more human and show both her mischievous side and her loving side.  These are parts of me that I have brought to Lucy in the live action version.  At the end of the day, she is a middle schooler just like me.

4. What do you most love about playing Lucy Loud?

Playing the role of Lucy Loud is just the best . . . bringing demons to life, fighting with skeleton sticks, jump scaring everyone and doing this with almost no emotion (or at least not letting others see what Lucy is really thinking.) I also have learned to act with the bottom half of my face – my mouth.  You never see my eyes so I have learned to portray a lot with very little!  Also, dancing and doing acrobatics on set without being able to see (my eyes are covered with my bangs) has been a very fun challenge!

5. What do you love about being a part of this show?

It is the best cast and crew and creative team I have worked with.  Also – working with so many talented kids each day is so much fun.  But working with Cat is the most special part of being on this show. It still amazes me how lucky we were to both be booked as series regulars on the same show. That just never happens.  I learn so much from working with Cat and watching her work.  Seeing her in action as Luan and making the entire crew and cast just die laughing makes me really proud of my big sister.

6. What do you hope people will take away from watching “The Really Loud House”?

I hope young kids take away that it is okay to be just you, be different and follow your passions.  There is literally a different personality, passion, interest in each of the siblings of the show (a comedian, a fashionista, a rocker, an athlete, a scientist, a dark supernatural poet.)  We are all so different, yet we accept each other and love each other.

7. What other projects do you have coming up?

I am in New Mexico right now for the next few months finishing up the last ten episodes of Season 2 and Season 1 just dropped on Paramount+.  I am also going to be working on a new movie which I am in discussions on!
