Kristina Menissov is a model and singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles, California. As a model she has walked the runway all over the world and graced the covers of numerous magazines. A trained Opera singer, Kristina, is using her vocal talent to set the music world on fire with her original pop music. Kristina is setting the example for women everywhere that it is possible to have it all. Thank you Kristina for this interview about your music career!
1.Tell us about the music you are currently working on.
Right now, I have two songs lined up for a release that was scheduled for December 29th, but I had to delay it. The first song is the song that all of you already love, “Crown”, and this version will be sung just by me, song is filled with all the middle eastern motifs and with a very modern subject that I mixed with an eastern woman’s wisdom. Second song is “Potion”, the intention of that song when I was writing it was to learn my inner dark side and wishes and instead of denying them learn from it and use it.
2. How do you prepare to go into the studio?
I have sung everyday like for the last year and have two hours of week classes with the vocal coach Denis Suvorov and do pre work with my music producer Andrew Lane, so usually by the time I go to the studio I only need to warm up with vocalizes and make sure I had a good resting before.
3. How much rehearsal time is there between getting the song and recording it?
Each song is different, plus I like babysitting my songs and always think I can do it better, but I think the trick is just go and knock it down.
4. What do you love most about making music?
The freedom, I get to express all my thoughts and feelings, be whoever I want and try née characters. It’s a perfect opportunity for all my personalities to shine.
5. What’s the craziest thing that has happened in the studio?
I had the crazy pattern every time I would book a studio, I would get sick, almost like for a year to the point it wasn’t funny anymore, which cost the whole team lots of lost resources and energy, so I had to overcome it.
6. What do you hope people will take away from listening to your music?
I hope women like those who deny their sexuality accept it and learn to use it as a power.
7. What are your goals for 2024?
Release songs faster, not just write it, and I have this very bold idea to record Sade covers as a Tribute to Sade.
