Catherine Bradley Talks Season 2 of The Really Loud House

Actress Catherine Bradley is looking forward to a fabulous 2024. She plays Luan Loud on the hit Nickelodeon show “The Really Loud House” which kicks off its second season on February 19th with a special musical episode. This episode holds a special place in her heart since Catherine has been dancing and singing her whole life. I was thankful when Catherine took time out of her busy filming schedule for this interview about the upcoming season.

1. Tell us about the upcoming season of “The Really Loud House”.

The first season was amazing, and it really started to introduce each of the characters and what makes them special and unique.  I know fans are going to love Season 2 even more because we really go deeper into each of the sisters.  My character, Luan, really starts to really become a teen, maybe meets a special boy (spoiler alert) and does some other typical teen stuff, but of course in Luan Loud’s unique and hilarious way! The cast is just so funny and insanely talented and Season 2 really showcases each of us with stories that young kids are really going to relate to!

2. The season kicks off with a special musical episode? How did you prepare for that episode? Were there a lot of rehearsals before filming?

When I found out we were doing a musical, I was so excited. Both my sister, Aubin who plays Lucy Loud on the series, have been dancing and singing since literally birth and began our careers on the stage.  The entire cast had only a few days to learn over 20 songs and complicated dances.  We had a choreographer who flew in from LA and the entire cast were quick studies! It was honestly so fun to film and the episode is one of the best episodes we have done to date.  Aubin and I share a musical number where we tap that is a continuation of a tap battle from Season 1, except it gets a little more violent. It reminds me of one of those Tom & Jerry cartoons!

3. You come from a musical theater background. How much fun was it to get back to those roots?

That was the best part.  I love tap and I love to dance and I love to sing.  The writers on the show have really gotten to know each of us as actors and have incorporated that into the scripts and plotlines, which makes the show that much more special and dynamic.  My character, Luan Loud, is the comedian of the family and loves doing stand-up comedy, but she is also a total theatre geek and master of disguises and impersonator.  I have also loved doing comedy on the stage and impersonations and through Luan I have done some impersonations that were just so much fun – a truck driver from the deep South with road rage issues, a hobo who hops from sleepover to sleepover, Mark Twain, the godfather, and many more.  I am hoping SNL is in my future!

4. What do you love most about being a part of “The Really Loud House”?

I love being part of a television series that inspires young children around the world.  Knowing that I am a positive thing for so many kids and just making them laugh and have fun makes me very happy.  I have my whole life to do more serious, grown-up roles, but right now I am where I need to be – having fun and bringing happy positive energy into this world!

5. What’s the craziest thing that happened on the set of this show?

I think the craziest thing that happened on the set was them hiring two sisters to play sisters.  The network did not even realize we were related at first.  I think having my little sister there to scare me (yes, Aubin hides in my trailer and spies on me and has jumped out at me a few times) is just crazy. Who would have ever guessed that my little sister and I would be on this journey together. It honestly has been one of the most special few years in my life spending it with her!

6. What do you hope people will take away from watching the show?

So some may say her character is a little geeky with her alter-ego puppet and best friend, Mr. Coconuts, but honestly Luan is just real and doing what she loves. So many kids from around the world reach out to me daily and thank me for bringing to life a teenager who is not obsessed with just superficial things and is just real and has a heart. I really hope that Luan inspires everyone to just be themselves and know it’s okay to be different and just be you.  In Season 2, fans are also going to see her grow and perhaps become even more secure in herself and more comfortable in her own skin.

7. What are your goals for 2024?

Finish my sophomore year of high school with straight A’s (including my AP classes), finish Season 2, film a movie, and begin recording music. I am working on directing and producing a short film!
