Detroit’s Valid and Stretch Money have dropped off a new album, titled Bill & Isiah. Produced by platinum credited Grammy-Award winning DJ Head of Shady Records, and Grammy-Award winning Anthony Rizzo, Bill & Isiah is ones of the most anticipated albums of the year. In recent months Valid and Stretch Money have graced many prominent websites and have received well over 50K spins on the singles from this collaborative effort.
The intro and instant grat-track “89 Cadillacs” is the perfect theme music for this concept album by two of Detroit’s favorites. While the vivid “Sentimental” showcases the duo’s versatility with its refreshing but retro pop sensibilities. “Game Film” even adds in trap flourishes with an elegant beat that underscores their sleek flows perfectly. Across the project, so many sounds and styles are presented sharply and cohesively, and it makes for an engaging and dynamic listen with lots of replay value.
On Bill & Isiah, Detroit legend Stretch Money links with Valid, overseen by platinum- credited Grammy-Award Winning DJ Head formerly of Shady Records/Interscope. Although this is a concept album with a theme throughout, the album is far from a gimmick. Valid and Stretch Money honed in on exactly where they are in their careers and personal lives while adopting the Detroit Bad Boys persona.
When recording their joint album Bill & Isiah Stretch Money and Valid pulled inspiration from the 80s, the era of the real Bill & Isiah that raised hell as members of the Piston’s Bad Boy squad. But the inspiration was not only the music of the 80s. Fashion, art, and even cinema influenced how this album sounds, feels, looks, all while not coming off as an outdated throwback.
