Exclusively Interview with the Artist Contraband Bigz

Hey, how are you doing?

I’m cooling , in the studio recording new music , Linking up with my director  Viral Visuals to shoot new videos to “Opps” and “Money Man” from the album Dopes Tales . Just elevating, keep riding and stay out of the way .

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?

I always and a think for raping . Originally started off as a band musician and then from there elevated into rap but I always knew I wanted to rap . May first foot into the game would b coming back from SFASU with a smash called “Whole lotta money” and then become an  engineer at this studio called the enclave on Northside,  it was real successful because a lot of the northside people like the Sauce Twins even OTB Fast Lane, The song “Back Then” was like really really Poppin so having those people around me is definitely motivated me to try to do something of my own .

When did you start music?

Being a musician you learn the fundamentals of music . But Contraband was born in the junior year of high school when I recorded my first song with some friends of mine. we did it for the talent show and that’s when I noticed that this is the most natural flowing feeling I ever felt .. from there I knew that this is what I’m supposed to b doing .

Where are you from?

From the east side of Houston Texas. Stay everywhere in the east ..  It’s only a handful of us from that side of town , Lil jiarmy, Queen and Kirko and now me .. but I’m still glad to see everyone holding it down in their respective fields . Maybe the fact that it’s not many is what makes us go hard .. Either way I LOVE to see it

How did you get into music?

I always knew I wanted to rap but being a Musician and then actually get into the Artist side  then getting into the engineering side. I’m actually am glad that I came in from  so many aspects because it make my music and my sound different from other people.Since I listen to music from all those three spectrums I look at the way it’s engineered I look at the way it’s composed ,and I look at the way that it’s written. So I put a lot of time and effort into those places of my music.  So the fact that I do have experience in all three of those areas that it was actually makes my music different ..

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

I had overcome the fact that people are fake, not fake but people are not gonna value that they don’t see Valuable.. treasure has to be Treasure before its treasure and apply the same logic with my music I guess.. people wanna see the value to take advantage of the value. Only  the way to have a valuable brand is to make yourself valuable. Some times an artist might start with your availability if they don’t respect your time  .

Who inspires you the most musically?

To be honest I’m inspired by Doo Wopp ,it is something about the arrangement of the melodies and simplistic values of the human vocal.  the fact that music was originally made to emulate the human voice no doo-wop it’s made to emulate the instruments that was made to emulate the human voice .that’s the reason why I like it it’s something refreshing from a place where people can afford instruments they can’t afford for studio time and big bands and all that so what they decide to do ?? they decide to compose a whole arrangement with just vocals I think stuff like that is amazing, the thought and concept is brilliant .

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

Don’t stop pushing one thing I talk about a lot in my music, i talk about getting up and going to get it, that’s what a lot of my music is about. a lot of my music is inspiring yourself to push yourself to make more of yourself to wake up and be something ,aspire to be something great every day that’s why I would expect for the close people around me to do it because I expected it of myself .

Any new music coming out soon?

Oh yes and studio working on actually a sequel to DOPE TALE . Really planning on working with the same people .. maybe do some different things in the production . This difference for that next up album is that I have a more better team that wants to see me win .. you need that , you need to have that , people invest in teams for the clout or not

Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is it coming out? What is it about?

I don’t have a date on it right now since the last hour and still kind of fresh but I think it’s gonna be a sequel to the dope tales , it’s agonna be a difference in production and probably might have like a more soulful sound than last time .last time was on a lot of more trap this time it might be just a little bit more soulful
