A British Perspective on American Legends: The Work and Insight of Geoff Littlefield

Geoff Littlefield was born on July 31, 1950, in London, England. Growing up in a city rich with culture and history, he developed a lifelong interest in sports, music, and storytelling. He attended Earlsfield Junior Boys’ School from 1957 to 1961 and continued his education at Spencer Park School, completing his GCE O-level standard in 1967. Littlefield’s early education laid the foundation for a career that would combine curiosity, research, and a deep understanding of cultural dynamics. Later in life, he expanded his knowledge with further studies, including a BTEC Higher National Certificate in European Information Technology with Languages at NESCOT in 1990 and an AS-level in Psychology at the University of Reading in 2004.

Littlefield’s first experiences in the public eye came at a young age. At thirteen, he appeared on the BBC radio quiz programme Junior Sporting Chance, presented by Brian Johnston. He captained the winning team, demonstrating early leadership and poise under pressure. That same year, he wrote his first published article, interviewing Chelsea and England football players for his school magazine. These early experiences introduced him to the worlds of media and storytelling, setting the stage for a career that would move effortlessly between entertainment, writing, and production.

Before fully entering entertainment, Littlefield applied his talents to the business world. In 1974, he founded REL Shipping Agents in Earlsfield, London. The company grew steadily until 1983, when he sold his share for a substantial return, demonstrating his ability to combine creativity with strategic thinking. In 1984, he launched The Personal Telegram Company, offering innovative message-delivery services across London and the South East. Its Musclegram service attracted high-profile clients and became a notable novelty of the decade. These ventures reflected his early understanding of audience engagement and the importance of personal connection in communication.

Music Management and the Great American Songbook

By the mid-1990s, Littlefield had transitioned fully into entertainment management, focusing on classical American music. His interest in the Great American Songbook led him to collaborate with Perry Damone, son of singer Vic Damone. Together, they co-founded the Damone Management Group, which provided record production, artist management, and promotional services in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Later, he became Chief Operating Officer of the Damone Entertainment Group, the successor to DMG. Under his leadership, DEG expanded its presence in the United Kingdom and contributed to the production of Vic Damone’s Signature Collection, Vol. 2. During this period, he also introduced live Valentine’s music nights to Chelsea Football Club’s 55 Club and managed American singer Joe Francis, producing a UK tour and arranging auditions for the West End musical Chicago. These projects demonstrated his skill in combining artistic insight with organizational expertise.

Film Production and International Projects

Littlefield’s engagement with film and media grew in the 2010s. In 2011, he founded Allestone Productions in the United Kingdom, taking on projects in film, music, and sports. He wrote and produced the DVD Football Managers Uncut: Back in the Day in 2016, capturing memorable moments and personalities from the sport. Between 2011 and 2012, he led La Conoscenza and secured a contract to develop a football academy in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. The project was formally launched at a local press conference and included televised interviews on national and regional broadcasters. These efforts highlighted his capacity to work across cultural and geographic boundaries while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.

Writing and Literary Contributions

Littlefield’s writing reflects both his analytical skills and his passion for cultural preservation. His authorized biography, Nelson Riddle: Music with a Heartbeat, became a best-seller in the Amazon Kindle Jazz Music category and was praised by broadcaster Sir Michael Parkinson, who called it a fascinating read. His second book, Last Night When I Was Young – Sporting Favourites of Mine, also achieved best-seller status and was commended by journalist Phil Thomas as well worth a read. Both books illustrate Littlefield’s dual interest in music and sports and his ability to make historical figures and moments accessible to contemporary audiences.

Beyond writing, Littlefield continues to develop new projects in film and media. He is involved in two feature films in development, including Lunch with Sinatra: The Nelson Riddle Story, as both screenwriter and producer. He is also producing a biopic mini-series of Pier Angeli titled Little Garbo and holds the documentary rights for a project based on his Nelson Riddle biography. His extensive experience allows him to move seamlessly between research, production, and creative direction, ensuring that each project retains historical accuracy while remaining engaging for audiences.

Legacy

Geoff Littlefield has remained a lifelong supporter of Chelsea Football Club and continues to live in the United Kingdom, where he works through Headspace Productions. His career spans decades of contribution to music, sport, and film. He is recognized not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his ability to bridge cultures, bringing a British perspective to American legends. His life and work illustrate how dedication, curiosity, and respect for cultural history can shape a career that informs and inspires.

Littlefield’s professional journey demonstrates that excellence in entertainment and media comes from a balance of knowledge, creativity, and commitment to storytelling. Through every phase of his career, he has maintained a clear vision, ensuring that the stories he chooses to tell are preserved, celebrated, and passed on to future generations.
