Deportee Drops New Video Single

When the music video of Deportee’s latest single Black Women Are Not Cheap debuted yesterday, thousands of the Detroit, MI, and St. Mary, Jamaica-based singer-songwriter’s streamers and subscribers took to social media to watch the visuals. Shot on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, the music video opened up outside of Hollywood’s Hard Rock Walk and Casino Cafe, capturing his every lyrical move as he navigates the Avenue of the Stars with a lyrical message. He’s surrounded the Black women who dance passionately to the sounds of an artist who understands their value and worth.

As a global independent artist on the rise, Deportee has made a name for himself with releases like 2 Pretty (2025), Pressure Point (2025) which climbed to the number one spot on the iTunes Reggae chart in Bermuda, Bad Mama Jama (2025) which he performed live alongside Ricky Ten on Jenny Jenny’s Morning Radio Show on Hitz 92 FM in Jamaica, Getting Back With My Ex (2024) which earned the number one spot on the iTunes Reggae Charts in Mexico, and Caught Up feat. Ricky ten (2024).

“Black women are not cheap, Black women are not cheap / They hold the value in the war room and the classroom and the streets / Black women are not cheap, Black women are not cheap / They work hard for what they have and plus she’s sensitive and deep / Black women are not cheap, Black women are not cheap / She locks the gates and walks the gate with those who hate and disbelief / Black women are not cheap, Black women are not cheap / I send your throne and take a seat and make them see it,” Deportee sings in the hook which he refers to as the anthem.

Described by Deportee as poignant, powerful, profound, passionate, and Black, the global independent artist explains that his latest release is a reaction to the music video for Young Nudy’s 2023 single release Peaches and Eggplants. Deportee recalls a scene from the video where a man grabs a woman’s behind, and you never see the woman’s face, just her butt. “To me, it was kind of off-putting and made her look cheap. I felt a protest swell inside me, and the words Black Women Are Not Cheap came to me,” he shares.

“I want this song to make people talk and reflect. I hope it will trigger conversation around gender and relationships, and I welcome discussions on race and other topics as well,”  says Deportee. Raised as the son of a U.S. diplomat in eight countries, he learned to absorb culture intentionally rather than imitate it. That global upbringing fuels a genre-fluid approach, moving effortlessly through Reggae, Dancehall, Hip-Hop, and R&B while leaving a distinct imprint on each.

“Not the type to shake her ___ in the video/ She’s the type to get to know / A good woman can give you so much / A companion for the journey so you’re not alone, help you find the way to go / With kind words and tender touch / Chasing every girl with lust is dangerous and random / From the girl that you can trust that makes me love without a condom / Sex and love is more than passion, it’s greater satisfaction / I’m bringing it back in fashion / Sing along to the anthem,” he sings in the second verse of his latest hit Black Women Are Not Cheap.

Listening to Deportee feels like hearing the world at once – a unifying voice in a divided time. Deportee’s music can be streamed on Spotify and Apple Music. Follow @Official Deportee on Instagram and YouTube.
