REDD. RELEASES DEBUT MIXTAPE ‘RAUNCH.’

Originally channelling their creative fire into acting— they’re a Palme d’Or winning actor— it took a global pandemic and Melbourne’s infamous lockdowns in 2020 to ignite their musical journey. At just 15 and entering Year 9, REDD. dove headfirst into songwriting and production. The result? A raw, no-holds-barred creative outlet that became the foundation of their sonic world.

Uploading demos to Soundcloud and Unearthed, it wasn’t long before their distinct style, lyricism and musicianship turned heads, earning them a deal with Island Records Australia and Republic Records in the USA, and a growing reputation within the industry as one of Australia’s most exciting new artists. Already REDD.’s string of releases, ‘BRITNEY IN 03.’, ‘PUSH ME AWAY.’ and ‘SHIMMY SHAKE.’ ‘FUGH SHI.’, ‘RAUNCH.’ and new single ‘Jeans So Baggy’ have grabbed the attention of BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music, Radio X, triple j and Unearthed, 3RRR, RTR, FBi Radio, 4ZZZ, Radio Adelaide, Apple Music and Spotify.

REDD. has also lent their writing skills to Baker Boy’s current singles ‘PEACEKEEPER’ and ‘Freakout’, further solidifying their reputation as a “one to watch” in the industry.

Melbourne/Naarm-based artist REDD. today releases their debut mixtape RAUNCH. and shares the official video for their blistering high energy new single ‘BAD DAYS.’. The release arrives alongside the announcement of the RAUNCH. Mixtape Tour, with free headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this July.

Fresh from a run of shows in the UK and Europe, including The Great Escape and Pretty Pissed Festival, REDD. will return home to play free shows in Melbourne at Lulie Tavern on July 5th and in Sydney at Vic On The Park on Saturday July 12th and will be joining the epic King Street Crawl (Newtown) line-up on Sunday July 13th . In addition to the free shows,  REDD. will be supporting Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers on their East Coast tour next month.

REDD. and their boundaryless, wholly idiosyncratic approach to music speaks to the experience of an artist who’s been the odd one out for nearly their entire life.  REDD. wants to connect with people, make them move, and spark boundless joy.

New single ‘BAD DAYS.’ puts a fresh spin on contemporary emo-pop-rock and plays like the emotional core of the RAUNCH. mixtape – an acknowledgement of pain that manages to look past it into brighter futures, it complicates our image of an artist whose primary mode is setting the party on fire. “There are bad days, there are others where I am thinking I just might break, snapping under my weight. Everything wrong, check the world’s climate, I just sing songs, hoping I’ll survive it,” REDD. says.

Shot entirely on an iPhone 4 across the US and Australia, the accompanying official video, with its raw yet striking DIY style, is co-directed by REDD. and  Cole Surrey. The almost documentary-like glimpses captures the intense energy and chaotic world of REDD.

Opening track and lead single ‘RAUNCH.’ is a slithery kiss-off that flexes REDD.’s prodigious talent and shows off their talent for arena-ready production, while ‘SHIMMY SHAKE.’ is the kind of romantic slacker pop track that would make Mac Miller proud. ‘PUSH ME AWAY.’ puts a fresh spin on contemporary emo-pop-rock, and pop-punk track ‘FUGH SHI.’ takes aim at artists who don’t have conviction in their own uniqueness and sense of self. ‘JEANS SO BAGGY.’ is a sun-dappled ode to being a freak and totally liking it and closing track ‘BRITNEY IN 03.’, the bratty indie sleaze anthem that’s already put REDD. on the map toys with conventions of gender and taste with the bearings of the artist they know they’ll soon be.

The 9-track mixtape moves at breakneck speed through crackling pop-punk, lush indie-R&B, and party-starting hip hop anthems, all the while foregrounding REDD.’s lithe voice and remarkable talent for sharp, witty lyricism. Recorded in Melbourne, Sydney, LA and New York,  RAUNCH. is produced and written by REDD. and friends Lach Bostock (Maisonair), Tom Josephs, Laiko (Medium Build), New-Haven (Evie Irie, Allday), SB40Stephen Mowat (Gretta Ray, Tyne-James Organ), Ciarrann Babbington (Bakers Eddy), Nate Delizotti (Vacations), Benjamin Schandy (Jimi Somewhere), Ole Martin Jense (Jimi Somewhere), Julian Sudek (Royel Otis, Bag Raiders, Genesis Owusu), and  Lars Stalfors (Role Model, The Dare, Lucy Dacus) on mixing.

There is no doubt the momentum behind REDD. continues to heat up with every single they release and every show they perform. As well as local media and DSPs championing their music – triple j and unearthed3RRRRTRFBiSYN FM4ZZZRadio AdelaideSide-NoteTonedeafMilkyVEVO, Spotify and Apple Music – internationally REDD. has been played on BBC Radio and Radio X and given the seal of approval by Kerrang!

REDD.’s raw, no-holds-barred creativity, impressive lyricism and explosive high energy live shows are turning heads and you can catch them at the following live shows this month.
