“Watch This” exemplifies an excellent blend of celebratory energy and sharp lyricism. The song delves into the juxtaposition of the allure of viral internet fame and the core principles of Hip-Hop culture. Created by two East Coast MCs, the track is infused with humor and shock value in its punchlines, encouraging deeper contemplation with each listen. The chorus is catchy and has a dual appeal for TikTok dance videos, both intentional and ironic. “Watch This” transcends genre boundaries and generational gaps, making it a universally appealing choice for any gathering.
The artist expresses, “The whole process of making the record was great vibes. The beat is fire and was made by Buckroll, the recording was split between Phoenix Down Studios in Somerville, MA and So Ripe Studios in Lowell, MA, the latter also being the location where the video was shot. Dom Bruno, the owner of So Ripe and director of the video, made the introduction to Nino’s camp. They were feeling the song and everybody involved thought it would be a great collaboration. Nino is a super talented lyricist and he went crazy on his verse, and it’s also one of my favorite chorus’ that I’ve written so I think the final product is a great song all in all”. – SUMiT
The track also features Nino Man, an artist based in Harlem, New York. At the age of 11, Nino Man discovered a deep passion for hip hop, inspired by rap icons such as Fabolous, Jadakiss, and Eminem. This early exposure ignited his ambition to become a “Hip Hop Legend.” However, aspirations alone were not enough.
Raised in a difficult environment characterized by poverty, Nino encountered legal issues that resulted in a two-year prison sentence at 18. The challenges continued; during his time in prison, he suffered the heartbreaking loss of his mother to cancer, a tragedy that left him unable to say farewell. This profound sorrow propelled Nino Man to commit to changing his life. After his release, he took on the responsibility of caring for his three younger brothers while actively pursuing his rap career.
With steadfast dedication and resolve, Nino Man persisted in creating music, drawing inspiration from his life experiences, which fueled his ambition for success. With the support of Jadakiss from D-Block, Nino continues to navigate the rap industry, witnessing his former idols transform into peers, friends, and family.
