Emilie Culshaw is a pop vocalist and one of the latest signings to Big Condo Records. Her influences include Ariana Grande & Lana Del Rey. 🎶🎶🎶and she is getting accustomed to label life.
Q1. What are your hopes and dreams for you and Big Condo Records in the next five years?
The next five years are going to be mega! This is just the beginning so much is in the pipeline. I hope to release an EP, tour the UK and help people through my art by sharing my message and i hope to continue to grow in my confidence and songwriting. The label is constantly growing rapidly, and I can’t wait to see where we are in 5 years’ time. So many exciting things to come.
Q2. How did it feel when you were told Big Condo Records wanted to sign you?
I was absolutely over the moon I couldn’t quite believe it at the time. Their belief in me as an artist means so much. So excited to be able to execute all my projects in the best way possible with the best people.

Q3. You were mentored for a year before you were signed. How did that support from Big Condo help you develop as an artist?
the support from big condo has been a god send. I have reached levels this year I didn’t think I would get to for a long time. They have taught me all about the music industry and how to market myself properly as an artist and how to best use social media for promoting my music and live performances.
Q4. It seems like you enjoy being at the Big Condo office and can be often heard in the background during their radio show! Does the label feel like family to you?
hahaha yes me yelling hi from downstairs. Does feel like a family, everyone is so down to earth, humble, genuine and ambitious. Great people to be working with.
Q5. What’s it like working with Big Condo in the recording studio?
Working in the studio with big condo is great, they provide such a safe place for the artists to express themselves and create the art that is most true and authentic to them.
Q6. I have seen that you’ve recently worked with Donno (rapper who’s signed to the label). Do you enjoy exploring different genres you may not be used to?
I absolutely love it; I love getting projects on genres that I’m not used to working with. learning about them and writing to them! Donno is an amazing rapper, and I’m honoured to have worked with him! I can’t wait to everyone to hear the collab.
Q7. You’ve mentioned previously about using your anxieties as a superpower. How have the guys at Big Condo helped you improve your confidence and believe in your own abilities?
Yes, as someone who had always struggled quite badly with anxiety, big condo has helped me through that and to see it as a superpower. Anxiety is great with helping you work effectively under pressure; anxiety helps me to put my all in everything I do. Always encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone and do what you’re afraid off. I went from someone with horrible stage fright to having such a strong passion and love for performing. I promote all my upcoming shows in my Instagram bio.
Q8. Your collaboration ‘Strong’ was a fantastic collaboration with Scottish dance producer Mark Moncrieff. What does this song mean to you?
Thank you! That song was a big breakthrough for me. During the time I wrote it I was going through a difficult time mentally and struggling to be inspired. After attending “save the rave” with my best friend I came back to the record and the night inspired the song as I had such a great time. Everyone can interpret it in the way it’s supposed to resonate with them of course, but to me it’s about pushing through hardship believing there is light at the end of the tunnel. Which years later I can say that is true, always keep going.
Q9. You have covered Noah Kahan’s ‘Stick Season’ & Corinne Bailey Rae’s ‘Put Your Records On’ to great effect. Any other covers you’d like to try?
Thank you, yes so many haha, would love to try out some power ballads like “I didn’t know I own strength” by Whitney Houston. Would love to sing “my mind” by yebba i think the vocal in that song is beautiful, so much emotion, and of course Chappel roans “good luck babe” is definitely on the way too after being inspired by all the awesome performances of it!
Q10. Out of all the Big Condo events you’ve performed at which has been your favourite and why?
My favorite so far has probably been Charliee’s single release party for “wish I never knew” the energy the crowd was giving was amazing. The room was jumping everyone was enjoying themselves which as a performer is the best thing to see. Great single by Charliee too by the way definitely check it out she’s smashing it.
