Introducing Victoria Pousada

Victoria Pousada is an actress and model who is tearing it up on both coasts! As a model she is breaking the mold and changing model stereotypes. As an actress, her talent has proven itself in the projects she has done. A hard working artist, Victoria gives everything to every job she does no matter how big or small. I recently caught up with her in between projects to see what she’s up to and what she has in store to close out 2024.

1. Tell us about your upcoming projects.

I’ll be flying to Massachusetts in between my month-long stay in LA for a booking! I’ll be working with a mental health and nursing education company, which brings me so much joy. I’m a sucker for any paid project that also does good unto the world in the spirit of tikkun olam.

2. How do you prepare for a role?

Depends on the role. For example, the prep for a commercial job is far less than most tv / film roles – unless it’s something alongside a 1 lined co-star role –

I do always recede into my batcave to learn lines while watching TV though. I like to get the lines down, or mostly down, first so that I don’t stress about them. Not knowing my lines distracts me from making discoveries about the character. And it’s also relaxing to write my lines out in blue and black ink and pencil while watching my favorite sitcoms. Then I get into the crafting of the character, which usually requires me to re-read the script over and over again.

3. How much rehearsal time is there between getting the script and shooting the film?

For my upcoming project in Massachusetts, I need to memorize 12 pages of single-spaced lines, which equals about 20 – 24 pages double-spaced. Thankfully, there will be a teleprompter as a backup. But needless to say, I’m going to spend at minimum 12 – 15 days memorizing lines. Especially since I’ll also be traveling, touring L.A apartments, and fulfilling other commitments in the two weeks before filming. And that’s just for an industry! Which doesn’t require me to engage in elaborate character crafting.

If I was in a play though it would take months of work.

4. What do you love most about acting?

The versatility, how there’s always something new to experience and discover, the vagabond nature, and the amazing characters you meet both in life and on the pages. It’s never boring!

5. What’s the craziest thing that happened on the set of any film?

I was a background actor on a short film in New York and we were filming in the park. At one point, the producer and director had to climb over a fence to talk to the crew who accidentally arrived to the set on the wrong side of the fence. It was quicker than the group walking 10 minutes to get around the fence. Needless to say, it was a very chill set.

6. What do you hope people will take away from watching your work?

That they’re inspired to create and pursue their dreams! And that they feel comforted and represented by seeing a fellow short, curvy girl on screen. Joy from laughs would be the cherry on top.

7. What are your goals for the rest of 2024?

Booking co-star and guest-star roles, as well as a national commercial and a modeling campaign. Also, solidifying my bicoastal lifestyle between New York and Los Angeles. And being able to get my strength back and free squat 180 lbs… 200 lbs on the leg press.
