If you have been paying attention to the entertainment industry, you know things are changing DRASTICALLY. Hollywood is losing steam thanks to superhero fatigue, lack of creativity, and the two-punch of COVID married with crippling strikes. So–where are people turning to get entertained? Youtube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitch, etc. This is a new world–the world of independent content creators and self-made influencers.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the teen entertainment space. Teen influencers command huge audiences and attention, and many have turned their content creation into thriving businesses.
We love to feature the future–and to that end we spoke to a rising influencer who is just beginning her content creator career, but has big plans: Ella Chan.
Ella, from Vancouver, is only twelve years old but has already won several dance and rhythmic gymnastics competitions. Like many middle- and high-school-aged kids, she explores lot of artistic pursuits including music and modeling. She also loves to give back to her community, including performing for senior citizens at a nursing home to brighten their day. Her content is a fun blend of dance videos, runway modelling photos, athleticism and showing off her Asian roots through traditional attire. She has been featured in notable publications such as the very popular Teens Wanna Know and All Eyes Magazine.

Hi Ella! Tell us about some of your recent wins!
Lately, I’ve been recognized for my rhythmic gymnastics and won awards for dance competitions such as “The One Dance” and “Synergy Dance Competition.” I have also modeled on the runway, including the prestigious Vancouver Kids Fashion Week and collaborated with amazing brands and designers.
What is fun and rewarding about modeling? And what is not?
Modeling allows me to showcase incredible designs and express different characters through fashion. The most rewarding part is the creative collaboration. However, the unpredictability of the industry can sometimes be challenging.
As a model, you get to wear some amazing dresses and fancy outfits. How would you explain your everyday fashion style?
My everyday fashion style is casual chic. I love comfortable yet stylish pieces that I can easily mix and match.
What items in your closet can you not be without?
I can’t live without my baggy jeans and my crop tops.
What’s one fashion trend from the past you wish would come back in style?
I wish the bold and colorful fashion trends would make a comeback. They were so fun and expressive!
How do you avoid getting too nervous before performing or walking the runway?
Before performances or walking the runway, I calm my nerves by focusing on my breathing and visualizing a successful outcome. It helps me feel confident and ready to shine.
Favorite sports team?
I am a fan of the Portugal soccer team.
What is your spirit animal?
My spirit animal is a lion since I am loyal and powerful.
