When asked about her preparation for the role of Rosie, Griffith emphasized the importance of identifying commonalities between herself and the character, allowing for an organic immersion into Rosie’s persona. “Mainly what I did in preparation to play Rosie was identify the commonalities between her and myself and really lean into and emphasize those characteristics. This made the process of stepping into Rosie’s skin feel very organic to me.” says Tori. Despite their differing life circumstances, Griffith felt an instant connection to Rosie, attributing it to a shared quality of ambition and a penchant for dreaming big.
Griffith’s dedication to authenticity led her to immerse herself in the literature of the era, including works like “Cold Mountain” and “The Coffin Quilt,” providing invaluable insights into the daily lives and perspectives of women during that time. Through meticulous research and introspection, Griffith ensured that Rosie’s experiences resonated authentically with audiences.

Portraying Rosie in “Elkhorn” marks a significant milestone in Griffith’s acting career, one that she believes has fostered substantial growth as an actress. Despite not having seen the final footage, Griffith feels confident that her portrayal of Rosie will showcase some of the most genuine emotional performances of her career.

Looking ahead, Griffith expresses a desire to continue exploring roles that challenge traditional gender stereotypes, citing a preference for emotionally dynamic characters in epic narratives akin to “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.” “Portraying Rosie has solidified how much I love playing resilient, non-traditional female characters. I would love to step into a really emotionally dynamic role in an epic type story like Celia St. James in The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.” describes Tori.
In portraying Rosie’s evolution throughout the series, Griffith acknowledges the challenge of maintaining continuity amidst the non-linear filming process. Yet, it is precisely Rosie’s personal and professional growth that makes her character arc all the more compelling.
