Ready to light up the summer, country trap king Jamie Ray rolls out his brand new ALTOID COWBOY EP via Against Da Grain/Epic Records.
On “UH HUH,” a twangy guitar loop gives way to an 808 bounce as Jamie’s dynamic drawl stomps all over the beat. He promises “That country money different” before declaring himself, “Strip club cowboy.” All attitude, Tay Money pulls up with a fiery verse of her own, asserting herself as a tried-and-true trap cowgirl. In the accompanying visual, models surround Jamie in a mansion as he raps to the camera. Tay spits bars in the bathroom, twerking and rhyming without apology.
ALTOID COWBOY sees Jamie perfect his signature style. On “RODEO,” he leans into the countrified instrumentation with an anthemic refrain, “Fuck it on up.” Elsewhere, melancholic guitar barely contains an eruption of hip-hop drums on “SLIDING.” We continue to RIDE into his most romantic record on the project with this melodic banger then, there’s the finale “COUNTRY TRAPPER OF THE YEAR.” Rustic harmonica wails as he delivers bold and braggadocios bars with a proclamation, “I’m the motherfucking country trapper of the year, goddamn right we make it happen over here.” Check out the full tracklisting below.
