A titan in the scene since his teenaged years, powerhouse artist/producer Tainy is the sound architect behind reggaeton’s evolution from upstart genre to worldwide phenomenon. When superstars like Bad Bunny–who has called Tainy, “[his] favorite producer in the world“–J Balvin, Ozuna, Rauw Alejandro, and many more want to make an impact, Tainy is the first number they call. His expert sonics and diverse musical background helped reggaeton become the sound of global pop music, culminating in multiple Latin GRAMMY wins, 4 GRAMMY Award nominations, and several BMI Awards, plus collaborations with stars ranging from Daddy Yankee to Dua Lipa to Shawn Mendes to Wisin Y Yandel.
Now, with decades under his belt as a hitmaker, kingmaker, and seismic behind-the-scenes figure, Tainy is ready to claim the spotlight for his own: stay tuned for DATA, Tainy’s debut studio album, coming June 29th via NEON16. We at Audible Treats are proud to work with Tainy as he enters the next phase of his career.
Tainy’s upcoming album DATA is a testament to his versatile production, as well as his status in the music community. Inspired by his extensive travels to Japan, DATA is an immersive and immensely star-studded effort, welcoming some of music’s biggest stars in innovative combinations as Tainy guides them on a tour through reggaeton’s rich history. The album is home to the Latin GRAMMY Award-winning “Lo Siento BB :/” ft. Bad Bunny & Julieta Venegas, the futuristic Rauw Alejandro collaboration “Sci-Fi,” and recent singles “obstáculo” ft. Myke Towers and “Fantasma | AVC” ft. JhayCo.
The San Juan-born maestro has been teasing additional tracks in a series of recent live performances. He revealed a new song with J Balvin and Young Miko at a show in Mexico, debuted a track with Arcangel in Panama, and most recently, at a show in Spain, Tainy teased a groundbreaking collaboration with Skrillex, Four Tet, and Rauw Alejandro.
Tainy started his career in the mid-00s, when he was just a teenager, in the midst of reggaeton’s first wave of mainstream commercial success. He was a protege of the legendary production duo Luny Tunes, who discovered him from a demo and helped Tainy obtain his first copy of FL Studio. By 2006, Tainy was a producer nearly on equal footing as his mentors, contributing to Mas Flow: Los Benjamins, a Luny Tunes compilation featuring stars like Daddy Yankee, Wisin Y Yandel, Don Omar, and dozens of others. Tainy continued his relationship with Daddy Yankee with major placements on the legend’s 2007 album El Cartel: The Big Boss, including lead single “Impacto.” He contributed to albums by every major Latin artist of the era, including Arcangel, Ivy Queen, Plan B, Aventura, and many more.
Tainy is the mastermind behind some of the most iconic Latin hits of the modern era. Tainy first joined forces with Bad Bunny on his groundbreaking album X 100pre, producing the majority of the album’s songs, including massive hits like “Estamos Bien,” “Caro,” and “Si Estuviésemos Juntos.” He made his debut at the top of the charts when he co-produced Cardi B’s “I Like It,” the bilingual smash featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin. In 2019, Tainy made his debut as a lead artist, connecting with El Conejo once more for the smash hit “Callaíta,” which has over 1.2 billion streams on Spotify alone, and made waves in later years with “I Can’t Get Enough” (w/ J Balvin, Selena Gomez & benny blanco), “Adicto” (w/ Ozuna & Anuel AA), “Aqua” ft. J Balvin, and the cross-genre airplay smash “UN DÍA,” featuring Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin.
Stay tuned for DATA, when the man behind the curtain steps out to reveal that he’s one of the most vital artists in music today.
