By day, Kellon Lewis is a successful businessman who owns several companies across a variety of industries, covering everything from health insurance to real estate. He brokers luxury cars and yachts, helps Medicare clients find the coverage they need, and is currently getting into the cyber-security sector.
He has a lot of irons in a lot of fires. But one of his hottest passions is music.
As hip hop artist K-Tone, he is taking the Magic City by storm with hit singles “Big Smoke” and “How You Feel”, which hit radio stations in July of 2022 and were released to all platforms a few weeks later. It’s been a hot summer in Miami, but even hotter as K-tone brings the action to the club scene.
It takes heart, talent, education, and intellect to juggle multiple business ventures as well as diving into the music industry. K-tone has all of these star qualities. “I’ve worn a lot of hats,” he says. “I’ve tried just about everything, because I am interested in so many different things. I’ve wrestled to find my place – to find that perfect career that truly satisfies my goals and passions.”
Born in Brooklyn, Kellon Lewis was the son of immigrants from Grenada who worked hard to raise their large family. Along with his 3 brothers and 4 sisters, he developed a love of music early in life. “My father was a songwriter,” he shares. “I remember going with him to the studio. I spent hours in studios, hanging out with musicians. I loved every minute of it. I knew I wanted to participate in the music scene someday.”
He began to write and perform while still living in Brooklyn; then in the summer of 2018, K-tone booked a trip to Miami. Once he hit the Magic City, his life would change forever. “I never went back to the airport,” he recalls. “I just fell in love with this place. The culture, the weather, the nightlife, absolutely everything about Miami called out to me. I knew I was home.”
Influenced by his past in New York City as well as his future in the hot city of Miami, K-tone’s music references his own life experiences and delivers a message to listeners, as he is also passionate about setting young people on the right path in life. He is respected as a trendsetter among his peers, and has a talent for utilizing his influences but always applying his own unique sound to his tracks.
His first single was “Take You There”, featuring the Global Artist Group recording artist Ray Lavender, as well as acclaimed actor Lil Zane. Singer, songwriter, model, and actor Ray Lavender has toured with massive stars in the music industry, such as Akon, T-Pain, Lady Gaga, and more. Actor and musician Lil’ Zane has appeared in feature films alongside greats like Sean Connery (Finding Forrester) and Eddie Murphy (Dr. Doolittle 2), and is a true veteran of the music business.
“Take You There” launched K-tone into both local and national exposure. Since then, he has opened and closed for some of the hottest names in music, like Nicki Minaj, Busta Rhymes, Ron Browz, Rick Ross, Jadakiss, Maino, Sammie, J.R. Writer, Vado, Murda Mook, Lil Haiti, and more. He’s collaborated extensively with DJ Epps, the official DJ for Montel Williams and an integral part of Miami’s club scene and hip-hop circles. DJ Epps has worked all over the country with 50 Cent and other huge names and has promoted K-tone in clubs across Miami.
“I’m known for my ability to cunningly deliver stories with insight and with vast vocabulary,” he says. “My music speaks a universal language that activates endorphins.”
Most of all, he wants to deliver a message to everyone, especially young people starting out in life, that you can achieve your dreams by making the right choices and avoiding bad influences. “I have vowed to make a change and deliver a positive message in my music, in an effort to open the eyes of today’s youths and our drill music contenders so they won’t end up down the wrong path.”
