Shjuandale Jones II AKA “Two Luxuri” was born on June 19, 1998 in Memphis, Tennessee. His name came from his father. Back home in Memphis his family nicknamed him “Two” so now he goes by “Two Luxuri” which is something he lives by. Others could mistake the name for luxury things but to him it means from nothing to something. Not only focusing on the music side of things Luxuri is a graduate at SAE Institute in Entertainment Business in Nashville. Luxuri first moved to Nashville from Memphis when he was 13 years old. When he moved to Nashville at first he was made fun of for the the way he talked, but now it’s a trend people admire all over the world due to Memphis’s success in the music industry. We got to connect with Two Luxuri & ask him a few questions about his come up so far!
Describe the moment you knew music was going to be permanent for you?
“I remember moments growing up listening to my older cousin Mac Preach rapping, also at the family functions bumping old school music. It was essential for my learning development. Till this day I remember the songs & sounds from educational toys which gave me the impression this is the way it should be learning through songs. In high school I was in the graphic design and tech program my 10th grade year. We had these huge Apple monitors with GarageBand downloaded on them. I would skip my school work trying to figure out how to use it and realized I could make beats. From that point on I wanted it to be apart of my life entirely. Especially since my senior year when teachers asked me what I was going to pursue for my college / career choice.”
Explain how it is in the studio, how do you set the vibe to get started?
“I like to be in rhythm to set the vibe. Fully hydrated or have me something to drink on like some water or juices.”
How is it coming up as an artist in Memphis? How easy is it connect with other artists or producers around the city?
“Memphis is a real vibe. Memphis is home to myself & a a lot of talented people. I feel like I have a deep connection becoming an artist as a whole, because it’s in my roots from the blues to the soul. I can network my way around artists and producers from the city easily, if I haven’t met them already I know will soon. I have love for the come up & putting myself in position to make it out of poverty.”
How did your move from Memphis to Nashville affect your career?
“Honestly it was not my choice to move to Nashville, but I recorded my first song at SAE institute here in Nashville. Moving from Memphis was the thing I needed to move in the right direction to follow my dreams. You have to break out of being small minded & think outside of your city.”
If you were to talk to some upcoming artists who just started what are the top 3 pointers you would give them?
- “Be you, It’s just that simple no one can take that away from you
- Make sure music is what you really want to pursue & put time, money and energy into first , because no one will follow or want to listen to someone who quits on themselves
- Study the music business & lock in. The business side of thing is just as important as making what makes you happy.”
What would you say is the biggest accomplishment you’ve accomplished so far?
“I’m proud of myself for dropping music on all streaming platforms. For so long I made music and nobody ever heard it. All I wanted was the world to hear me out, but n ow they would be able to put me in their search engines and stream all day.”
What are somethings you have coming up in the near future?
“In the near future I have a video shoot coming up so expect for me to be sharing more.”
