Behind the Broadcast: The Creative Partnerships, Technology, and People Driving XPTV Global’s Media Evolution

Every television network is shaped by more than the programmes audiences see on screen. Behind each broadcast is a combination of production facilities, technical development, creative relationships, presenters, artists, and industry partnerships. For XPTV Global, also known as XPTV1, these elements have become increasingly important as the British independent media company expands its presence across music television and digital entertainment.
Founded in 2018 by Darren Jones, professionally known as Darren Jay, XPTV Global began in Birmingham, England, where its early broadcasting and production infrastructure was developed on a relatively small scale. Since then, the company has grown into a multi channel network operating brands including XPTV1, PopworldTV, and Rockefellas TV. Its development has been supported by a combination of original programming, international production, and technology designed for modern viewing habits.
The network’s operations remain rooted in Birmingham, with its primary UK facility located at The Old Barns, 85 Camden Street. Production activity has also expanded through B1 Studios, which records interviews and entertainment content for XPTV1 and Rockefellas TV. The studio has welcomed musicians, broadcasters, entertainers, and public figures, including acclaimed British singer Jaki Graham, whose completed interview forms part of the network’s growing catalogue of original productions.
Across the Atlantic, Rockefellas Studios in Corona, California, provides another production base. This connection between the United Kingdom and the United States has allowed XPTV Global to broaden the range of voices appearing across its channels. Rockefellas TV, which entered into partnership with XPTV Global in 2024, has become central to this international approach.
Programming produced through the partnership includes The Ronnie Ciago Show, which features performances and conversations with figures from the music and entertainment industries. Guests have included Grammy Award-winning musician Michael Sembello, broadcaster Harvey Brownstone, and television and radio personality Mike Read, all associated with the Heritage Charts. XPTV1 has also expanded its presenter led output with a regular programme hosted by television personality Steve Blacknell.
Further productions are adding depth to the network’s schedule. A Rockefellas TV roundtable featuring broadcaster Brad Henshaw alongside Simon Wright of AC/DC, Chris Slade, known for his work with AC/DC, and Jim Simpson, the original manager of Black Sabbath, has been recorded for an expected autumn premiere. The programme, which also includes other music industry guests, reflects an interest in longer conversations that preserve the experiences and perspectives of people with significant careers in music.
At the same time, XPTV Global is developing the technical infrastructure behind its content. One of its most notable projects is XPTV3, an experimental OTT initiative developed by Darren Jay using the company’s own streaming technology. The platform is designed to bring independent television stations and internet radio broadcasters together within one streaming application.
Initially available through Amazon, XPTV3 follows a collaborative model in which participating broadcasters retain their individual programming identities while using shared distribution infrastructure. Spectrum On Air and Around Sounds are among the early participating stations, with further broadcasters expected as the initiative develops. The concept also reflects the increasingly close relationship between radio and television, particularly as audio broadcasters introduce video interviews, live studio content, and visual programming.
Technical development has been an important part of XPTV Global’s progress from its early production stages. The company has acknowledged Ian Anderson for his contributions to engineering and technical development, work that has supported the infrastructure required for its expanding broadcasting activities.
The network’s growth also depends on relationships beyond the studio. XPTV Global works with record labels, publicists, music promotion agencies, and independent management companies to bring both established performers and emerging artists to television audiences. Its partnership with Marland Music Management, led by Ronnie Swift, has further strengthened its connections within the music industry and supported opportunities for artist promotion.
Rockefellas TV actively invites new and upcoming artists to submit music for consideration, with particular interest in introducing emerging rock bands to broader audiences. Alex Garcia, founder of Rockefellas TV and owner of AMG Outdoors, supports developing artists through interviews, television programming, promotional opportunities, and outdoor billboard advertising across California.
This support for new talent exists alongside continued coverage of established performers. XPTV1 provides space for classic hit artists to present new releases, while the wider network encourages labels, promoters, and agencies to consider television as part of contemporary music promotion. In an industry increasingly dominated by online platforms, the company sees value in maintaining a visual broadcasting space where audiences can discover both familiar names and new performers.
The next stage of expansion includes Rockefellas Europe, a planned companion channel intended to broaden the network’s offering across rock, pop, and mainstream entertainment. Together with XPTV1, PopworldTV, Rockefellas TV, and the developing XPTV3 platform, the project represents a growing portfolio built around different forms of music and media.
XPTV Global’s evolution is ultimately the result of many connected parts. From Birmingham and B1 Studios to production in California, from engineering development to artist promotion, the company has built its progress through collaboration. Its future will depend on continuing to connect technology with people, giving broadcasters, musicians, presenters, and independent creators a place within an expanding international media network.
