Rapper Lil HotB has redefined his sound with his new hot single “Dangerous”. Accompanied by a Thriller inspired music video, the Los Angeles native is paying homage to the iconic Micheal Jackson in a major way. I caught up with the rising star to talk about his new single, the inspiration behind the video, and being vulnerable in music.

Whose idea was it to create a Thriller-inspired video for your new “Dangerous” single?
The idea really came from wanting to do something that felt bigger than just another music video. Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” is one of those moments in music history that everybody remembers, so I wanted to take that inspiration and put my own world around it. “Dangerous” already has that dark, seductive energy, so the concept naturally came together. I wanted people to feel like they were watching a movie, not just a video.
What is it about Michael Jackson that has influenced your new music direction?
Michael was a master at creating an entire experience around music. It wasn’t just about the song — it was the visuals, the fashion, the choreography, the storytelling and the emotion. That’s something I’m really focused on now. I want to have my own world and identity where the music and visuals feel connected. I’m not trying to be Michael Jackson — I’m inspired by his ability to make people feel something and create moments that last.
Why do you feel it is important to be vulnerable in your music as a rapper?
Because that’s where the real connection happens. Anybody can rap about having money, cars or being tough, but talking about heartbreak, love, fear, mistakes and the things you don’t normally say out loud, takes a different level of honesty. I’ve experienced a lot, and I want people to hear the real person behind Lil HotB. Vulnerability doesn’t make you weaker it makes the music more relatable.
What is up next for Lil HotB?
A lot. “Dangerous” is really just the beginning of this next chapter. I’m focused on building the world around my music, more visuals, more performances and bigger collaborations. I’ve got records with some incredible artists in the works, and I’m continuing to push the music beyond just streaming. I feel like everything is starting to line up, and I’m coming into this next chapter with no ceiling.
