Rajesh Dandotiya Completes Chevening Cyber Security Fellowship in the UK

Indore: Rajesh Dandotiya, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Indore Police Commissionerate, has completed the Chevening India Cyber Security Fellowship 2026 in the United Kingdom.

The Chevening India Cyber Security Fellowship is part of the UK Government’s Chevening programme and provides professionals with an opportunity to engage with subjects including cybersecurity, cyber policy, digital security, governance and emerging technology-related challenges.

Dandotiya’s participation in the fellowship comes at a time when cybercrime has become an increasingly important area for law-enforcement agencies. Online financial fraud, phishing, identity theft, social-engineering scams, digital arrest fraud and other technology-enabled offences have created a growing need for specialised cybersecurity knowledge and public awareness.

As part of his work in cybercrime awareness, Dandotiya has conducted more than 1,100 awareness sessions involving schools, colleges, government institutions and public forums. The sessions have addressed common forms of cybercrime and measures that citizens can take to identify and avoid online fraud.

Safe Click Conceptualises AI Chatbot for Cyber Awareness

Separately, the Safe Click initiative has conceptualised an AI-powered chatbot aimed at supporting cyber-awareness efforts. The concept focuses on using conversational artificial intelligence to provide users with accessible information about common cyber threats and basic digital-safety practices.

The initiative reflects the increasing use of artificial intelligence and digital tools in public awareness programmes, particularly as users face increasingly sophisticated online scams.

Books and Cybercrime Awareness

Dandotiya has also contributed to cybersecurity awareness through writing. He has authored five books related to cybersecurity and cybercrime prevention.

His book Inside the Cyber Crime Files: Decoding the Digital Battlefield was co-authored with cybersecurity professional Arya Tyagi. The book discusses different aspects of cybercrime and the challenges faced by law-enforcement agencies in the digital environment.

Another publication, Cyber Rakshak, focuses on cybercrime cases and digital-safety awareness.

Dandotiya has also been featured by Forbes India for his work and achievements in the field of cybercrime awareness and prevention. The recognition adds to his public profile as a police officer working in an area that has become increasingly relevant to citizens, institutions and law-enforcement agencies.

Growing Importance of Cybersecurity in Policing

The completion of the Chevening fellowship highlights the growing relevance of cybersecurity education within modern policing. Cybercrime increasingly involves digital financial systems, social-media platforms, online identities and cross-border technology infrastructure, making cooperation and specialised knowledge important for investigation and prevention.

International programmes such as the Chevening fellowship provide law-enforcement professionals with exposure to approaches used in different jurisdictions and to broader discussions around cyber governance, digital resilience and emerging threats.

For citizens, however, awareness remains an important part of cybercrime prevention. As online services continue to become part of everyday life, understanding basic digital-security practices and recognising common fraud techniques remain essential to reducing cyber-related risks.
