1. For readers discovering JUNE for the first time, who are you as a band and what defines your sound?
We’re JUNE, an indie rock three-piece with a gritty, powerful sound built around anthemic tunes. Our music combines hard-hitting choruses, catchy melodies and driving rhythms, creating songs that people can connect with and sing back to us.
2. How did the band first come together, and what was the moment you realised this project had real potential?
The band officially came together in 2023 after evolving through different names and line-ups. We originally started as a four-piece, but once Bobby began writing the songs and we started filling bigger rooms, we realised just how far we could take the project. That was the point where we knew there was real potential in what we were creating.
3. Every band has a story behind its name, why “JUNE,” and what does it mean to you?
JUNE stands for Just Us Nothing Else. The name reflects our journey as a band and our experiences in life. We’ve built everything ourselves from the ground up, and the name represents our determination, independence and belief in what we’re doing.
4. Who were some of your earliest musical influences, and how have they shaped the music you’re creating today?
Some of our biggest influences include Paul Weller, The Charlatans, Oasis, Shed Seven, The Jam, Catfish and the Bottlemen and The Real People, alongside many others. We wanted to bring back that relatable, hard-hitting style of songwriting that was so prominent in the ’90s—music with real meaning that resonates with people and tells genuine stories.
5. How would you describe the journey from your first rehearsal or gig to performing at festivals and major independent showcases like this one?
It’s been an incredible journey, but definitely a stressful one at times. Like many independent bands, there have been financial struggles, and a lot of the gigs and events we’ve played have been unpaid. Despite that, we’ve continued to push forward. This year we’re returning to DEVA Fest, performing to even bigger audiences, and opportunities like the Big Condo Records Weekender are helping us reach new listeners and share our music. Looking back, it’s amazing to think we started out as 12-year-olds rehearsing in our drummer’s nan’s garage, and now we’re building a growing audience and planning new releases.
6. What can audiences expect from your set at this year’s Big Condo Records Weekender, and are there any surprises planned?
Audiences can expect a full original set packed with songs inspired by our songwriter and frontman Bobby’s experiences and emotions. There’ll be hard-hitting choruses, infectious melodies and plenty of energy from start to finish. We want people to leave remembering the songs and feeling part of the experience.
7. Big Condo Records has become a major platform for grassroots and emerging artists. What does it mean to you to be part of the Weekender line-up?
It means a lot to us. The Weekender will be JUNE’s Liverpool debut, which makes it even more special. We’re all buzzing to be involved and have been waiting for an opportunity like this for a long time. To be included alongside so many talented artists is a real privilege.

8. How important are events like the Big Condo Records Weekender for independent bands trying to build an audience and connect with new listeners?
Events like this are vital for keeping the grassroots music scene alive. Without opportunities like the Weekender, many artists would struggle to gain experience, build confidence and grow their audiences. These events bring together different fanbases, helping artists connect with new listeners while strengthening the independent music community.
9. Are you currently working on any new music, recordings, videos or projects that fans should keep an eye out for over the coming months?
We’re aiming to record and release our debut single before the end of the summer, while also working towards a full album. Alongside our own music, we’ve launched a local project in our hometown designed to help bands of all sizes. It gives artists a platform to perform, promote themselves, sell merchandise and grow their audience. The first event has been a success, and we’re already working on the next one, with plenty more exciting plans to come.
10. Looking ahead, what are the biggest goals for JUNE over the next year, and where would you love to see the band go from here?
Our main goal is continued growth. We’d love to support some of the bigger artists within our scene, expand our audience and take the band to the next level. We’ve been together for three years now, and we’re finally starting to see that hard work pay off. The next 12 months are all about building on that momentum and reaching as many people as possible with our music.
