Building Convenience Through Technology: The Growth and Business Model Behind Move It

Move It is an American technology company that offers on-demand moving, delivery, junk removal, and labor services through a digital platform. Based in Henderson, Nevada, the company connects customers with independent contractors who provide transportation and household assistance for a variety of small-scale tasks. Since launching in 2019, Move It has become part of a growing group of app-based companies that use technology to simplify services that were once difficult to arrange quickly.

Michael Eshragh, a Las Vegas entrepreneur with extensive experience in marketing, advertising, and business operations, established the company. Before founding Move It, Eshragh spent more than twenty years building and managing businesses in different industries. His background in customer acquisition and digital marketing played a major role in shaping the company’s early strategy.

Eshragh had previously founded a fantasy sports startup, Fantasy Lineup, in 2006. The business faced development challenges and legal obstacles, preventing it from achieving long-term success. Even so, the experience gave Eshragh a better understanding of how to launch and manage a technology-based company. Years later, he used those lessons when developing Move It.

The idea for the company came from a gap in the local market. While companies such as Uber and Lyft had made transportation more accessible, and Airbnb had changed how people book accommodations, there were still limited options for people who needed help moving furniture, transporting large purchases, or hauling away unwanted items. Traditional moving companies often focused on large jobs and often required advance scheduling, leaving smaller tasks underserved.

Move It was created to provide a more flexible alternative. Through the company’s website and mobile app, customers can request help with small residential moves, furniture pickup and delivery, junk removal, and in-home labor. The service is designed for people who need fast assistance without the expense or planning required by hiring a full-service moving company.

One of the most important parts of the Move It platform is its contractor network. The company does not use employees to perform moving and delivery jobs. Instead, it works with independent contractors who use their own vehicles, trucks, and equipment. Contractors who own trucks are called “Move It Pros,” while workers who focus on lifting, loading, and physical labor are called “Move It Muscle.”

This system gives contractors greater flexibility, allowing them to decide when to work and which jobs to accept. It also benefits customers by expanding the pool of available workers. In many markets, customers can find help within a short time, often in less than an hour.

The company’s technology is designed to make the process simple for both customers and contractors. Customers can upload photographs of the items they need moved, allowing contractors to understand the size and scope of a project before accepting the job. Pricing is shown in advance, which helps reduce uncertainty and gives customers a better idea of the total cost.

Move It also includes real-time tracking and in-app messaging features. Customers can track job status, communicate directly with contractors, and receive updates throughout the process. These features are similar to those used by rideshare and food delivery platforms and reflect the company’s focus on convenience and transparency.

The timing of Move It’s launch proved important to its growth. The company entered the market shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic changed consumer behavior nationwide. During this period, more people relied on delivery services, online shopping, and remote living arrangements. Many customers needed assistance moving furniture, delivering household goods, or clearing out unwanted items while avoiding in-person interactions.

As demand for these services increased, Move It expanded its presence beyond Southern Nevada. The company initially served the Las Vegas Valley, including Las Vegas and Henderson, before entering additional markets. Over time, it launched operations in the Phoenix metropolitan area, Denver, San Diego County, and Long Island.

These locations were chosen because of their large populations, active housing markets, and growing demand for local delivery and moving services. In each market, the company relied on its technology platform and contractor network rather than building a traditional moving fleet.

Move It has also developed partnerships with furniture retailers, apartment communities, and property management companies. These partnerships help the company reach customers who need delivery support after purchasing furniture or assistance during residential moves. The company has also worked with the furniture brand connected to entrepreneur and designer Kathy Ireland.

As the company expanded, it gained recognition from local organizations and media outlets. Move It received the Best of Las Vegas award from the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 2023, 2024, and 2025. It was also named Best Tech Startup by Tech Tribune in 2024. In addition, the company earned recognition as a Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite each year from 2021 through 2025.

Move It has also been nominated for regional honors in other markets, including Best of San Diego by the San Diego Union-Tribune in 2025 and Best of Long Island in 2026. These nominations reflected the company’s ability to build a presence in different cities while maintaining a service model centered on convenience and speed.

Move It’s business model reflects a broader trend in the American economy, where digital platforms connect customers with independent workers for services that were once managed through traditional businesses. By combining mobile technology, flexible labor, and local transportation, the company has positioned itself as an alternative to both large moving companies and standard delivery services.
