Early Foundations and Entrepreneurial Spirit
Patrick Austin, born on May 6, 1994, in Windsor, Ontario, is a Canadian entrepreneur and business leader whose career reflects the value of experience combined with strategic insight. From an early age, Austin displayed a strong drive for excellence, particularly through athletics, competing at a high level in soccer with the Ontario FC Nationals. These formative years instilled discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, traits that later became instrumental in his entrepreneurial pursuits. His formal education at St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Secondary School, followed by a diploma in Business and Marketing from St. Clair College, provided a foundation in operations, business strategy, and marketing principles.
Early Business Ventures and Hands-On Experience
Before entering the roofing industry, Austin founded Pat’s Lawncare & Maintenance while still in high school. Serving both residential and commercial clients across Windsor, the business steadily expanded under his guidance. He managed operations for multiple government properties and automotive-driven facilities, gaining firsthand experience in business management, workforce coordination, and customer relations. Successfully scaling and exiting this business gave Austin his first opportunity to understand the nuances of operational growth, client expectations, and the complexities of running a service-based enterprise.
Building Expertise from the Ground Up
In 2013, Austin joined Austin Roofing & Waterproofing as a laborer, intentionally entering at a hands-on level to learn every aspect of the business. The company at the time focused on residential and small commercial roofing projects throughout Southwestern Ontario. By working directly on job sites, Austin gained deep insight into roofing systems, safety protocols, and project execution. This practical experience became the cornerstone of his leadership philosophy, ensuring that future strategic decisions would remain grounded in operational realities.
Ascending to Leadership
Austin’s dedication and understanding of the business led to increasingly senior responsibilities. In 2016, he was appointed Vice President, where he played a central role in operational growth, workforce development, and strategic planning. Under his guidance, Austin Roofing & Waterproofing expanded its capabilities to include large-scale commercial, industrial, and agricultural projects, including flat roof restorations, fluid-applied waterproofing systems, and single-ply membrane installations. His hands-on knowledge, combined with strategic oversight, positioned the company for both growth and technical excellence.
Strategic Project Execution
Throughout his tenure, Austin led several high-profile projects that showcased his operational precision. In early 2022, he oversaw the Parks and Recreation Facility project for the Township of Plympton-Wyoming, Ontario, successfully managing the project from planning through completion. Later that year, he secured a multi-million-dollar contract from a local private equity firm, managing multiple roofing projects across Ontario. The following year, Austin led a full roof restoration at Ottawa International Airport for the World Fuel and Sky Service facilities, demonstrating his ability to deliver complex projects under strict timelines and operational demands.
Executive Leadership and Expansion
Appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in late 2024, Austin took full responsibility for both Canadian and U.S. operations. In early 2025, he oversaw a five-year, multi-phase roofing project for Canada Brick’s manufacturing plant, followed by a heritage building restoration in Markham, Ontario, later that year. By early 2026, Austin Roofing & Waterproofing was selected as one of Green For Life Environmental’s preferred contractors, providing service and maintenance across industrial facilities in Ontario. In 2024, Austin also founded Austin Roofing America, extending the company’s restoration-focused solutions to commercial and industrial markets in the United States.
Innovation and Patents
Beyond operational leadership, Austin is committed to innovation in the construction industry. In 2025, he received his first patent for construction tool technologies, appraised at approximately USD 43.7 million. His focus on creating tools and systems that improve efficiency, safety, and performance underscores his broader strategy to integrate operational growth with technological advancement.
Commitment to Community and Long-Term Vision
Based in Toronto, Ontario, Austin continues to guide the strategic direction of both Austin Roofing & Waterproofing and Austin Roofing America. He remains actively engaged in philanthropic initiatives, supporting youth sports, hospitals, and mentorship programs. By fostering community development alongside business growth, Austin emphasizes a leadership philosophy that balances operational excellence, innovation, and social responsibility. His journey from hands-on labor to executive leadership reflects a blueprint for sustainable growth and enduring impact in the roofing industry.
