Founder of Black LA Food Tours, Daisy Miles is creating unforgettable experiences while uplifting the black company one tour at a time. Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, she understands how hard it is to run a business with sustainability especially in the food industry as a minority. As a result Daisy Miles decided to highlight black owned businesses in a fun and innovative way, hence the birth of Black LA Food Tours.
Having recently celebrated her 1 year anniversary, we spoke with Miles about her recent success. Check it out below.
What made you decide to become an entrepreneur and create Daisy’s LA Black Food Tours?
I wanted to find a way to give back to my community as well as try to combat gentrification.
How did you develop the concept?
Every day during Black History Month I would speak on one influential black person. In 2025, I wanted to do more than just speak to my social media audience. So, I came up with Black LA Food Tours to highlight the black restaurants in Los Angeles while also engaging the community.
What does it mean for you to be a black woman in business redefining success and legacy?
Being a Black woman in business means I measure success by impact, not applause, likes, and follows. It means building wealth that circulates through my community, protecting our stories, and creating spaces where we feel seen, safe, and celebrated. Legacy for me is ownership, freedom, and showing my daughter the power of protecting the community.
As you are from the Los Angeles area where your business is currently located, can you talk about the support you have gotten from your city?
Los Angeles has shown up for me in real ways. Our community buys tickets, shares posts, brings friends, and pours back into the vision. Local Black owned restaurants trust me with their stories. Media platforms amplify the work. The love is real and it keeps the mission bigger than me.
Who are some high profile or special guests that have been a part of the tour?
I have had the pleasure of hosting Award Winning Film Director Ava Duvernay, Storm Debarge, Kell Mitchell, Erica Peoples, Dominique Di Prima, Isaiah Jaay, and LA Try Guy.
What is up next for Black LA Food Tours?
We are expanding with intention, growing our private and corporate experiences, and building stronger partnerships with Black owned restaurants across LA.
