I hadn’t spent much time with Madzilla LV before watching the video for “Angel Genocide.” I knew the name, knew they leaned thrash, but this was the first release that made me stop and actually pay attention.
Looking at their history, it makes sense. Since forming in 2019, Madzilla LV has quietly built a resume that includes sharing stages with established names and appearing at major metal events, rather than chasing attention with constant reinvention. That context reframes Angel Genocide — not as a breakout attempt, but as part of a longer, steady output.
After going back through some of their earlier releases, it’s clear Angel Genocide isn’t a fluke. There’s a throughline in how they write and arrange songs, and this new track feels like a strong addition.

With the band supporting Living Colour on their upcoming South American tour dates, it’s clearly a good time for me to catch up on the band, because Madzilla LV has more going on, and I Im going to deep-dive this catalog.
