Bad Luck Brigade share bold new album ‘NOTHING’

Salt Lake City’s Bad Luck Brigade, formed in 2022 by Kilow and Ikaika Meatoga, is redefining live hip-hop. This six-piece band- drums, bass, guitar, keys, and horns- brings raw, improvisational energy to every performance, blending jazz instincts with hip-hop grit.

Known for high-impact shows and sharing bills with artists like Killer Mike and EarthGang, Bad Luck Brigade translates that chemistry into a studio recording that’s urgent, inventive, and impossible not to root for. NOTHING proves they’re a band confident in their sound and fearless in pushing boundaries.

Their new album, NOTHING, captures that stage electricity. Tracks like “A LITTLE” hit with driving grooves, “GET TOGETHER” mixes jazz, funk, and rock textures, and “SHARING” radiates communal energy. Mid-album moments such as “SHADED” offer soulful clarity before “JACKPOT!” swings into playful, improvisational funk. Every riff, beat, and verse feels alive, like a conversation between six musicians in sync.

NOTHING is a live hip-hop record that moves, breathes, and demands attention. At its core, this album feels like a snapshot of a band betting on themselves. Bad Luck Brigade isn’t chasing trends or smoothing out the rough edges- just six musicians leaning into what they do best and trusting the chemistry that brought them together in the first place. NOTHING doesn’t try to be perfect. It tries to be real. And in that honesty- in the sweat, the swing, and the sharp turns- it finds its strength. Check it out here now:
