The aircraft took off, navigated, and landed autonomously, an achievement that validated Skyryse’s approach.

The demonstration also marked a turning point for the company. Rather than limiting its technology to a single aircraft, Skyryse began moving toward the creation of its own aircraft-agnostic operating system for flight, one designed from the ground up to embody its universal vision for safe, simple flight.

Introducing the Skyryse One

The culmination of this effort came with the launch of the Skyryse One, its turbine-powered Robinson R66, which is also the first production aircraft to feature dramatically simplified controls with a single control stick and two touchscreens.

Unlike conventional helicopters, which require significant manual control and complex coordination,      Skyryse One reduces pilot workload by simplifying the management of any aircraft during standard flight operations, inclement weather, and emergencies. The intuitive interface allows pilots to focus on situational awareness rather than mechanical management. Every component of the aircraft reflects the company’s mission to simplify flight without sacrificing performance.

Industry observers have described the Skyryse One as a breakthrough in aviation, setting a new benchmark for how digital systems can be used to improve both safety and usability. One of its most notable collaborations is with the United States Army, under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement to explore the use of SkyOS in Black Hawk helicopters.      

These partnerships highlight the growing recognition of Skyryse’s technology within the aviation sector. The ability to integrate SkyOS into various aircraft types paves the way for widespread adoption, spanning private aircraft, emergency services, and large-scale aviation fleets.

Growth Powered by Strong Investment

Skyryse’s rapid progress has been supported by significant venture funding. Since its founding, the company has raised more than 300 million dollars from a range of respected investors, including Fidelity Management and Research Company, Monashee Investment Management, Positive Sum, ArrowMark Partners, Venrock, Eclipse Ventures, Cantos, and Stanford University. The company also counts Bill Ford, Executive Chair of Ford Motor Company, among its backers, a signal of the broad confidence in its vision and leadership.

The 2021 Series B funding round alone brought in 200 million dollars, enabling Skyryse to expand its engineering teams, advance the development of SkyOS, and prepare for the production of the Skyryse One.

Skyryse’s mission goes beyond creating new aviation safety solutions; it aims to redefine the very nature of flight. By merging automation, intuitive design, and technology, the company is addressing some of aviation’s most persistent challenges, such as complexity, training demands, and safety risks.
