Richtype, also known as Pierre The Great, was born on August 16, 2001, in the heart of New Orleans, Louisiana. A multi-talented musician, instrumentalist, and producer, Pierre embodies the rich musical legacy of his city and his family, where music has always been more than a passion—it’s a tradition. Raised on both the East and West Banks of New Orleans, Pierre also spent formative years in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Houston, and Atlanta, each city shaping his artistry and sound.
From an early age, Pierre displayed a remarkable ear for music. At just three years old, he could recognize good sound and melody, and by the age of seven, he was already experimenting with rhythm and tone. His musical journey began in band with percussion—starting on bells and drums—before discovering his lifelong love for the trumpet in middle school, an instrument he still plays today.
Music production became Pierre’s second language. At 12, he began freestyling and experimenting with FL Studio, and by high school he was sharpening his skills through recording and production classes, learning industry-standard platforms like Logic Pro X and Ableton Live. By the age of 14, he was officially producing music, combining his technical foundation with his natural creativity.
Pierre’s dedication to music followed him into college, where he attended several prestigious HBCUs including Southern University, Texas Southern University, and Prairie View A&M University. As a member of three world-renowned marching bands—the Human Jukebox, the Ocean of Soul, and the Marching Storm—he further honed his craft as both a performer and collaborator.
Throughout his career, Pierre has worked with local artists and produced in campus studios, always pushing himself to blend his influences into something uniquely his own. His sound draws inspiration from Jazz, Hip-Hop/Rap, Classical, and R&B, reflecting both his New Orleans roots and his broad musical vision.
With a foundation built on versatility, discipline, and a lifelong love of sound, Richtype / Pierre The Great is carving his own path as a new voice in modern music—an artist whose talent and dedication make him destined for greatness.
