Hailing from Chicago’s South Side, BabyChiefDoit has been making moves since the release of his breakout single, “Pancakes & Drugs”, (17M+ Streams) last year. Emerging from the city’s vibrant underground, his music speaks to the struggles and triumphs of his upbringing, with themes of survival, loyalty, and ambition resonating throughout his tracks. Drawing inspiration from drill pioneers like Chief Keef and the chaotic energy of Waka Flocka Flame, BabyChiefDoit blends aggressive flows with a youthful, unfiltered perspective to bring a fresh take to his city’s historic scene. His breakthrough culminated in the release of his 2024 debut mixtape, ANIMALS ONLY, a 12-track exploration of Chicago drill’s evolution that was quickly met with critical acclaim from Pitchfork.
Following the release of his viral self-produced single “WENT WEST” (50M+ Streams) and its Genius Open Mic performance, Chicago phenom BabyChiefDoit has just shared his latest video single “Mr. President” – out now. The new release serves as a fiery follow-up with BabyChiefDoit‘s charismatic bar work on full display as he embraces his stardom and wrestles with his growing influence – “To all the kids that hear my music, don’t do drugs or gang bang / She know I stay with a hundred hoes, she just wanna be my main thing”. “Mr. President” is just the latest release in BabyChiefDoit‘s breakout year –– in January, he was named one of COMPLEX‘s 25 Rappers To Watch In 2025 and has spent the rest of the year living up to the title. He was subsequently selected as a 2025 XXL Freshman, made his festival debut via his Summer Smash Performance in his hometown of Chicago (where he premiered his viral track “WENT WEST”, leading to his debut on the Billboard charts where it debuted at #89 on the Hot 100, and has since peaked at #71.) With BabyChiefDoit‘s agile breath control and invigorating delivery consistently on display, the new video for “Mr. President” was shot in Lyrical Lemonade‘s HQ where he also shot last month’s Lyrical Lemonade Lunch Break Freestyle. Ever since the release of his ZOO LIFE mixtape this spring, BabyChiefDoit has been on a head-turning run of industry shaking-moments and releases that also includes “Rich Guys” (feat. Babyfxce E), “Why Would I?” with Florida star Luh Tyler, a recent appearance on PlaqueBoyMax‘s In The Booth stream (which led to the subsequent release of “YN” with Sexyy Red, LAZAR DIM 700, and Baby Kia), a link-up with Jorjiana for the “ILBB2 (We Love BB2)” remix, and solo singles like “yeyeezytunechiweezy” and “Am I Wrong?”. Through it all, BabyChiefDoit has proved he’s more than just a student of drill –– he embodies the genre, making it a part of his identity.
With a steady stream of energetic releases and raw, unfiltered lyricism, BabyChiefDoit has quickly made a name for himself within his city and beyond. Early singles like “The Viper” (90M+ Streams), “6ix Times 2Day” (27M+ Streams), and “Snooze You Lose” (38M+ Streams) laid the groundwork for his grassroots following, drawing attention to his unique sound that bridges the gap between Chicago drill and Southern trap. Tracks like “Look Up” and “EBGDITB” (15M+ Streams) off his 2024 debut mixtape, ANIMALS ONLY, demonstrate his ability to blend chaotic beats with relentless, pedal-to-the-metal raps, while songs like “Drowned” add a layer of emotional depth through his sing-rap delivery. His creative approach, from his apocalyptic beats to his lyrical rawness, have led to collabs with the likes of PlaqueBoyMax and Nino Paid on “Cooln” (17M+ Streams) and Baby Kia for “NEW AGE YN”. As he continues to build his name, BabyChiefDoit is bringing the sound of Chicago to a global audience while staying true to his roots in the process.
