Born as Alex Epps on April 16, 2001, in El Paso, Texas, few would imagine the marvellous musical journey that lay ahead for Lex Love! At just four years old, his family’s move to Atlanta exposed young Lex to a melting pot of sounds. From the soulful rhythms of gospel and neo-soul to the energizing bars of rap and R&B, Atlanta was where Lex’s passion for music was ignited.
“Is This The Most Talented Kid In America?” many wondered, as by age ten, Lex had already enrolled in the illustrious Atlanta Music Program. There, he mastered the symphonic bass and dived deep into the musical traditions of varied cultures. Even Atlanta’s then-Mayor, Kasim Reed, couldn’t resist being captivated by Lex’s prodigious performances!
Fast forward to his teenage years—Lex’s journey took another dazzling turn. The family moved to New York when Lex was sixteen, where he encountered a stunning diversity of sounds. It was here that Yvng Lex was born, debuting with “The Life of Lex” in 2018—a track that unknowingly fanned the flames of his creative genius.
But the adventure was far from over! A few years later, Lex found himself in Killeen, Texas, where city life was traded for small-town charm at his mom’s behest. This, however, turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Meeting fellow talents like Retro and Jaiyo Dw, Lex’s skills evolved rapidly.
Yet, fate had one more twist for this vibrant artist. Crossing paths with Mac Hooks connected Lex to the influential Richter Scale CEO, Brian Theard. Initially, he merely hung out, observed their tours and business acumen, but something clicked. After heartfelt exchanges and the relentless pull of his artistic dreams, Lex penned his name on a deal with Richter Scale Records.
