This vibrant and notorious city, often mentioned in Gucci Mane’s raps, was once a favorite haunt of mafia legends like Al Capone and John Dillinger. An environment rich in history and stories of crime and culture, Terre Haute provided a unique backdrop for SAVVY STAN’s early life.
A Musical Household
Music was an integral part of SAVVY STAN’s upbringing, thanks to his mother’s job at Colombia House, a music distribution giant. The house was filled with crates of tapes and CDs spanning genres from Rap and R&B to Pop and Country. Growing up in such a musically diverse environment, it’s no wonder SAVVY STAN found his calling early. Attending concerts from a tender age (6-7 years old), he soaked in performances from legends like MC Hammer, Bobby Brown, TLC, and Vanilla Ice. It was a revelation when his mother allowed him to buy his first tape.
Dreams of Rapping
While other kids answered traditional professions to the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” young SAVVY STAN boldly declared his ambition to become a rapper. His determination was evident as he and his brother started mimicking their older cousins’ raps and eventually formed their own rap group, the Southside Soldiers, with neighborhood friends. This was during his 4th or 5th grade years, marking the beginning of his journey towards achieving his dream.
