Pheonix, the Southern California artist has created quite the buzz for himself over the last few months. Two of his latest releases have charted on the Top 100 Alternative Chart and continue to climb the rankings. Pheonix is now anticipating the release of his first studio album, Closer to Closure.
Pheonix was chosen as July’s Artist of the Month due to his unique songwriting abilities. Most tracks of his are filled with vibrant imagery and lyricism that corners the listener to really pay attention. You will miss a lot of hidden symbols and Easter eggs if you’re not focused, but you still may end up missing some even if you are. Vivid storytelling, addicting hooks, and an arena-based backbone help these songs translate to what may become the new norm for alternative music, or pop music in general.
Pheonix is 23 years old and originates from San Diego. He has been writing music since he was a kid and has been releasing music since 2015. He plays a variety of instruments on top of his songwriting abilities, and is heard playing multiple different instruments throughout his discography.
If artists like Juice WRLD, Lil Peep, and XXXTentacion were the ones to lay out the blueprint for the modern generation of music, then artists like Pheonix are the ones shown to be responsible for pushing those boundaries that most are still confined in. The peak for any artist or sound belongs to the artists daring enough to create something unique and true to themselves.
