The versatile artist has built a solid catalogue of genre-bending material that proves he is a musician that cannot be put in a box- and local favorites continues this trend with its eclectic nature. The six-track collection takes listeners on an immersive journey through the emotional landscapes of Buppy.’s life, showcasing his unique ability to blend genres and craft engaging narratives.
Buppy. uses atmospheric, emotive soundscapes to great effect on local favorites, such as opener “parade”. A heartfelt track with an uplifting, smooth sound and powerful vocals, “parade” crescendos beautifully into a sharp chorus. “rocky mountain roads” takes a poignantly personal look at Buppy.’s relationship with his hometown, as well as his trials and tribulations in moving to Los Angeles to pursue the music industry. Packed with memorable observations about the fakeness that can sometimes accompany LA and the music industry- Buppy. contrasts this with the down-to-earth, realness of his hometown, making for a relatable listen. Title track “local favorites” is an energizing, wistful song that puts Buppy.’s infectious songwriting on full display with imagery-rich lyricism laid atop layered, vibrant instrumentation.
About Buppy.: 20-year-old Utah native Buppy. tells his own coming of age story while exploring a vast world of genres. Using music production as a therapeutic outlet, Buppy. began composing and writing original songs at the young age of 12. Since then, his key focus has been on lyrical content, where a listener can find themself stepping into Buppy.’s world of vulnerability; becoming familiar with his raw and honest storytelling ability.
With the Wonderland premiere of “genre-bending hit ‘Violence”’ in January of 2021, Buppy. began to release his work to the public, immersing others into a world of his own. Closing out his year as one of the breakout independent talents of 2022, Buppy.’s single ‘hot B!’ premiered on the Zane Lowe Show where he was deemed “a superstar in the making.” Coming in hot to 2023, Buppy. has garnered recognition from press outlets such as Lyrical Lemonade, Ones To Watch, Earmilk, Early Rising, Elevator Mag, (and more) and frequently finds himself in the crosshairs of editorial teams with appearances on Apple’s New Music Daily, Breaking Pop, Wildflower, INDIY & Spotify’s New Music Friday, Tear Drop, Anti Pop, New Pop Picks, and Varsity Bars. He marked the end of the year with the release of his 2nd EP ‘names&places’ which premiered at SXSW.
