Surfaces is a Texas-based duo comprised of Forrest Frank and Colin Padalecki. Forming in 2017, with Forrest manning vocals and production, and Colin handling writing and arrangements, they released their debut album later that year titled Surf. Quickly capturing the attention of fans, they followed in 2019 with the release of Where the Light Is, catapulting them into stardom with breakout smash “Sunday Best.” The RIAA triple-platinum certified track went on to surpass 5 billion streams, break into the Top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100, reach #9 at Pop Radio and led to performances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and The TODAY Show.
They continued their momentum with the release of their 2021 album, Pacifico, featuring stand out singles “Wave of You” and “Come With Me” featuring Salem Ilese, while also collaborating with the legendary Elton John on “Learn to Fly.” In 2022, they followed up with Hidden Youth – an album inspired by the likes of Tame Impala and Tom Misch. The project’s groovy vibe included “I Can’t Help But Feel” and “What’s Been On Your Mind?” both of which have since amassed hundreds of millions of streams. Now, ready to kick off their next chapter, Surfaces return with “Thankful” + “Real Estate.”
The new single arrives on the heels of “Thankful,” marking the start of a new era for the group, following their 2022 album Hidden Youth. Featuring standout singles “What’s Been On Your Mind?” and the groovy “I Can’t Help But Feel,” the project has since amassed over 540M streams and was hailed by the likes of Rolling Stone, PEOPLE and Forbes who solidified their lasting power saying, “duo has a long runway in front of them.”
Last year, also saw the continued rise of Surfaces’ live show, as they traveled the world delivering captivating performances to their energetic fans. Alongside alt-pop group LANY, they spent the summer on a 34-city Summer Forever Tour, while also performing at festivals throughout the year including Splendour In The Grass, Hangout Fest and Tortuga Music Festival.
