Rising 28 year old artist “Tater Wheat” out of Nashville, TN has been pushing his brand hard for the past few years. Born & raised in the JC Napier Projects in south Nashville Tater began rapping at the age of 18 & has been at it ever since. With plenty singles & visuals out Tater is looking to take things to the next level in 2022. We got to connect with Tater & ask him a few questions about his come up!

Describe the moment you knew music was going to be permanent for you?

“I knew it was going to be permanent for me the first time I got into the studio & recorded some music. I was only 18 at the time, I went over my cousins house who had already been rapping at the time & had his own studio set up & hopped in the booth. When I heard my voice on the track when he played it back I knew this was going to be something permanent for me.”

Explain how it is in the studio? How do you set the vibe to get started?

“When I’m in the studio I like to come prepared & take my time listening to the beats alone to sit and reflect on the things I’ve been through. When I come to the studio I set the tone as business first. I’ve been recording with the same engineer “Audio Theory” for 10 years so we’ve grown together a lot.

How is it coming up as an artist in Nashville? How hard is it connecting with other artists & producers around the city?

“It’s hard coming out of Nashville being that many artists in my genre of music don’t make it out. Nashville is known for country music, but we also have a lot of rappers around. Connecting with other artists has honestly been about money, the more money you have the more you can do. I’ve met & done business with plenty of cool people, but quality does cost.”

If you were to talk to some upcoming artists who just started what would be some pointers you would give them?

  • “Put you blood, sweat, and tears into it. It takes everything you have to make it in this business
  • Get a side hustle or save as much money as possible, because everything in this business costs
  • Do things to make you uncomfortable, step outside your comfort zone. Doing the same thing will get you the same results every time.”

What would you say is the biggest accomplishment of your career so far?

“Knowing that I’m making my uncle proud by following his footsteps being that he was one of the first music pioneer in Nashville (Walter D).”

What are some things you have coming up in the near future?

“Dropping visuals, singles, blogging day to day, making content for social media & YouTube just stay tuned!”
