During his secondary school years, Mojeed quickly emerged as one of the most promising academic talents in Lagos State. He competed in several high level academic contests, earning recognition at both state and national levels. One of his earliest major achievements came when he became the Lagos State Winner of the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria Quiz Competition. Representing Lagos State at the national stage, he finished eighth in Nigeria, a strong performance that further established his reputation as a serious academic contender.
His excellence was not limited to traditional science competitions. Mojeed also won the Lagos State Climate Change Quiz Competition, a victory that qualified him for a national climate change contest, where his team emerged victorious. This achievement proved to be a turning point. It earned him selection for a UNESCO sponsored research tour in Germany, where he worked alongside representatives from Nigeria’s Ministries of Environment and Education. The experience exposed him to global policy discussions on sustainability and environmental innovation at an unusually early stage of his career. At the time, he received support from then Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, reinforcing the national significance of his work. His contributions during the program were later highlighted in a German newspaper that featured seven students selected for their impact.
Mojeed pursued higher education at the University of Lagos, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics between 2014 and 2018. His undergraduate years were marked by consistent academic excellence and national recognition. He won the Gold Medal at the National Mathematics Competition for University Students, an achievement that earned him a photograph with the Vice Chancellor and coverage on the university website and in newspapers. He was also selected as one of only three students to represent Nigeria at the 25th International Mathematics Competition held in Bulgaria, placing him among the country’s most elite undergraduate mathematicians.
Throughout his time at the University of Lagos, Mojeed received numerous scholarships and merit based awards. These included the NNPC Total National Merit Scholarship, the KPMG Undergraduate Scholarship, the University of Lagos Endowment Scholarship Award, and several foundation sponsored honors. He was also named 300 Level Student of the Year by the National Association of Mathematics Students of Nigeria, further affirming his leadership and academic standing among peers.
Seeking to deepen his analytical expertise and broaden his global exposure, Mojeed later moved to the United States to pursue graduate studies. From 2021 to 2023, he completed a Master’s degree in Informatics and Analytics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He graduated with a perfect CGPA, an accomplishment that reflected both academic rigor and sustained excellence. His graduate education was fully funded through the UNCG Graduate Scholar Award and the UNCG Graduate Assistant Scholarship, underscoring the university’s confidence in his abilities. He was inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, an academic distinction reserved for the top ten percent of graduate students across all disciplines.
