• Big welcome Zenith, you have just released your new single ”The Grind” How does that feel?
It’s fulfilling, always has been when we release a single. It’s the satisfaction of people getting to hear your music, our songs are like little windows into our personal lives and the lives of others, and we’re honoured to share that with people.
• What was the B-side called again?
The B-side was called ‘Can’t Give Up’ and it serves as a sort of sequel to ‘The Grind’ or an extension. It’s moved on from the themes of ‘working yourself to the bone’ and looks more into what comes after, after you get out of that life and start to heal and what could be the repercussions?
• How did you first get into music, and where did the Zenith name come from?
Music has been a part of all our lives from the beginning. George and Billy’s dad was their main influence in starting their musical journey. Whether it was introducing them to different artists and setting them up with different inspirations musically or teaching them what he knew on guitar. Lewis similarly had figures in his life that led him on the path of music such as his grandad and was gifted his first guitar when he was a young lad. Dylan like the rest always had the musical itch but didn’t start playing until his teens once he was in the actual band, since then he’s excelled at was, he does and has become an admirable drummer, and we wouldn’t be the same band without him. We were originally called ‘Red Zenith’ when we started as a sort of homage to one of our main collective influences which was ‘Pink Floyd’. Since maturing in age, we dropped the colour from the title as we felt we needed more of our own identity and stuck with ‘Zenith’, after all the name ‘Zenith’ means ‘Power’ and what could be a better to describe us as a band or our music?
• Who does what in the band, and who is the go too?
Every one of us is an essential cog in this musical machine as we all bring something vital to the table, we’ve all got our strengths, and we support each other’s weaknesses. Billy’s our lyricist, rhythm guitar, one of our vocalists and occasionally writes one of his own songs but he prefers to take his time when doing so. To pick up the slack with that we’ve got the Lennon-McCartney duo of song writing which is Lewis and George. Lewis is our jack of all trades and primary vocalist, bass player, recording engineer (when in the shed) and cranks out his fair share of lyrics. In George we’ve got a phenomenal lead guitarist who excels at the musical composition side of our songs. George primarily does the mixing and mastering of our songs unless we feel like giving someone else a go. Dylan is our heart and soul, he’s always honest with his opinions on songs or the direction we’re going or need to go and he drives the band forward both in recordings and live shows with his incredible drumming. As for a go to person, there isn’t one, we’re a unit and we work as one, a democracy. But message Billy if you need anything as he’ll be the first to reply…

• Where do you see your musical career in 10 years?
The strongest it’s ever been we hope. From a vast catalogue of music that’s beloved by people far from our own country to a great many shows at memorable places under our belt. And people still listening, always listening, that’s the dream.
• Which song is your favourite to play?
One of our favourite songs to play is ‘The Life That I Cheated’ which is one of our older singles. The song has this certain magic about it that gets us raring to go even on the most tiring of days, and can crack the most toughest of crowds at a show.
• Which song is your least favourite to play?
Our least favourite to play may have to be ‘same time tomorrow’. It’s not a bad song by no means necessary and is one of the strongest on our album ‘Tempest’ which we released when we first started but we’ve always felt it’s ‘cursed’ for live playing. It took us nearly 5 years to get that song sounding right for a live show after many failed attempts and even then, we’ve only played it to perfection that one time but never again. Actually, never say never.
• What’s it like being managed by Royzy Rothschild?
Sometimes we feel bad on Royzy knowing how tough it must have been taking on an 8-year-old band. We’d been at it alone in the music industry since we started and were hardened by many experiences both good and bad and as a result it can turn you isolated or withdrawn from those who want to help. We can proudly say though that Royzy well and truly broke through that defence and we’re stronger than ever as a team, it’s a privilege to be managed by him and learn what he has to teach. Aswell as being a part of the Big Condo Records family we’re blessed to have a manager we can talk to openly and feel is a part of the band as a fifth member, someone we can plan and discuss our career with and then who will help us get out there and spread our wings.
• What would you say is your greatest strength as a band?
Our greatest strength as a band is that we can embrace our weaknesses. We’re always looking at where to improve and how to get better. We’re there for one another at all times and help to pick each other up. If that’s not a reason as to why we’ve lasted as long as we have then we don’t know what is.
• Who are your favourite musicians?
The list just keeps getting bigger as the years go on and as we grow but to name a few both old and new (this includes bands aswell) ‘The Beatles’ Sam Fender, Guns n Roses, Pink Floyd, Metallica, Coldplay, Ben Howard, Jeff Buckley… yeah we could go on and on and on.
• What is your proudest accomplishment you have achieved at Big Condo Records?
It’s practically impossible to choose our proudest accomplishment, from playing as a part of the 33 city tour, to releasing 3 singles and very soon an EP, or most recently being interviewed on BBC Radio north-west which was incredible. We will say winning ‘Best Performance’ at the ‘Big Condo Weekender festival’ was spectacular also.
• What interests or hobbies do you have outside of music?
We’re all huge gamers outside of music, always have been. Almost every night if we aren’t practicing or writing we’re partying up online whether it’s in a Discord session, PlayStation or Xbox you’ll find us there until all hours of the morning, even if we have work the next day.
• Pepsi or coca cola, Mars bar or Snickers, let’s answer?
Ah yes we’re going Pepsi for this one, can’t beat a good old Pepsi Max but if it’s a special occasion then coca-cola it is. Also most definitely Mars bar, chocolate and nuts just isn’t it unfortunately.
where do we follow you?
